Hey friends,
Im trying to source engine, and other, parts for the scoot. Having a hard time at places like Scooterwest because they just don't have the familiarity. (which I understand) It seems to be a mix of the GS and GL
Engine #: 502Mxxxxxx
'Trapezoid Headset, clam shell type speedo, front forks as per GL, Sprint etc.., Frame and side panels as per GS160 Mk2 - wide separate 2 piece horncast pressing, 2 piece front mudguard, similar to GS in profile.'
Looking to replace potentially flywheel, stater plate, piston, need brakes front and rear.
Nothing immediate, it runs and works great. There is a short in the system somewhere that Ill trace eventually.
Glovebox and column lock replacement...
Let me know if you know any oem manufacturers or parts sites!
Cheers

i'm guessing by the reference to scooterwest your stateside ,ive not bought from scooterwest as i'm uk but i have usa friends who arent best impressed with there listings .you have to know exactly want you need as they list multiple models for 1 part that isnt correct to all the models .when i looked at there site i recognised the descriptions as just copy&paste from there indian suppliers . recambious is a very good shop ,knows his motovespas backwards an can be very helpful ,an should post to usa .i use to use him but after brexit he's refusing to post to uk because of customs problems .he's said to me "i'll post anywhere in the world ,just not the uk anymore" . the italian equivalents for the parts you need should be engine parts GS ,as it uses a GS crank so flywheels a GS taper ,the piston will just be a normal 2 port type , the stator can be tricky as the spanish mostly used femsa set ups.H

Scooterwest have tried to assist a few times with getting the right part and have been honest about their position, so I do not fault them for that.
Ill try recambious this sounds like a great option, and than you for the additional information!!
Cheers!

dont get me wrong ,scooterwest are ok , just i have a pet hate for lazy listings ,copy n paste listings . been caught being lazy before ,i love my paella's ,had a few ,just finished a gt160 engine for a mate . will reach out to my colonial contacts ,were in yank-land are you ,as i think theres "scooter mercato" in NE yankee town . dont quote me on the name ,i'll reach out n find proper names ,an get back to ya . but this is a "smallframe forum" ,theres modern vespa , thats large frame n usa centric on the whole .H
