Hoping to take my scoot on a dyno run at JB Tuning next Wednesday.
No idea how it works or what to expect or what to do
Bringing the scoot in a Transit
Got all the jets and needles as I run a PWK and they advised they only have Delly spares
Do they check/adjust timing? I presume I should arrive with a full tank of fuel?
Can someone talk me through it, fuck it I've paraglided off mountains and felt less nervous

Jimmy, good luck and be prepared to think your scoot is being abused!
The day should go with them checking the timing, then strap down the scoot and a few low speed runs to check the general condition and basic jetting (they run a probe into the exhaust to check the mixture), depending on the findings they usually have 3 power runs, this is usually 2&3rd gear full power runs followed with a full run through the gears It can be a bit scary when the scoot runs at full power, always sounds worse than on the road!
Iโve used a couple of dynoโs and itโs all about the skill of the operator, they will change basic jets and timing to get the optimum settings, definitely a full tank

Thanks mate, that's really helpful. Definitely a bit of fear involved having built it myself, what if it explodes etc!
I'm told JB Tuning is the nuts so hopefully I'm in capable hands

JB are one of the best, very well renowned in the tuned Lammy world, used them for loads of parts in the past. It can be a little worrying, I also used Shiny Red down in Gloucester, he explained there is little load applied on new engines so itโs fine, I gulped when then ran it up but it was a Nicasil barrel so it was fine.

what could go wrong
take a usb stick with and you can ask for the data to be saved on that as well, rather than just a print out you often get a bit more info if they save everything
if your in a van take a can with some extra juice in it you will loose a bit every time you empty the carb and it all adds up

So... yesterday went okay but either JB or I got the date wrong. Probably me. I was supposed to be there on Wednesday ๐ So John was just about to shut up early as it's Tik's funeral today. Thankfully he saw how far I'd come in the hired van etc and gave me an hour. Enough time to get it dialled in and running well, but not enough for any fine-tuning. Still, new jets, needle, slide and the washer off the air mix screw... which was missing out of the box on a new PHBL26! Came out at 14hp which I'm happy with for a Polini 130 / PM40 without welding cases. It pulls really nicely and smoothly through all gears now and has certainly enough beans for my riding style. Of course, closer to 20 would have been nice but the idea was always to build something reliable that can go the distance. After the dyno I rode to Leigh on Sea and got some fish and chips Some pics/vids:

Nice one ๐ I love the old polini 130, built loads of them. I currently have a right screamer one.... whats your engine spec? Did you do reed valve and flow channel - welding and opening up the inlet? What ignition system have you used?

The original build is here: vespasmallframeforum.proboards.com/thread/14057/jimmys-v90-bolt-restoration-project?page=11Since then I've added a VAPE ignition and swapped the PWK for a Delly. Oh and just dropped in a Crimaz CM4 clutch I bought off Boreham last week. So full spec is: PK XL1 cases, Polini 130 (transfers opened, decked on top to give 1mm squish), PM40, Crimaz CM4 clutch, DRT Runner tree, 27/69 straight cut primaries, SIP Vape ignition (Race/variable), Dellorto PHBL26 It's rotary with inlet opened, no welding though just transfers matched. Done about as much as I want to do to it for a while. Got a Rally engine to build next.

Sounds great Jimmy, a good solid result! Cheers, I think the Crimaz clutch probably a bit overkill but it's future proof for when I get bored and stick a more modern kit on...

14 ponies is enough for most riding without all the issues of extra high maintenance and the power curve looks nice and smooth rideability can be more useful than big numbers
a nice looking scoot
