Hi all I want to fit a rev counter prefer the analogue speedo. But my question is I'm running DC on my scooter no battery would this be a problem. It's basically a PK engine in a primavera frame so running 12v with a regulator. Just asking can I fit a 12v rev counter with this set up.
I have seen a nice rev counter that wraps wire round HT lead but was wondering about the electrical side would it work ??
Cheers..

If you can fit even a small battery the Dayton velona is a nice rev counter and speedo all in one I tried the Koso units but I found them unreliable Motorplat Krober and shiatsu will do the job but they are big expensive and better suited to the track

the sip one is analogue and the speedo needle can be used for mph or rpm with the digital part showing rpm or mph and also cht, this will work on either ac or dc

I'm running the SIP/Koso speedo but had to install an IntelliConverter from Scootronics to get it to work at idle. The Intelliconverter is £40 and multiplies the DC output voltage to ensure it's always at 12v even if the stator is only pushing 8v. That way you can charge a phone, run an EGT, speedo etc without needing a battery. scooterlab.uk/sip-speedo-solution-scootronics-intelli-converter-workshop/
