Hi all. Basically I wanted my Speedo light to work as be nice to see when riding at night so I ordered a lammy bulb holder and wire with bulb for my primmy Speedo..I drilled out Speedo hole so it would fit. I had a spare black wire inside my headset which I assumed was for my ass Speedo light. Anyway on joining them up today and starting scoot nothing no light come on both 12v.. Can anyway help or know why electrics aren't my strong point at all.lol Is there anyway I can just test to see if light works or then it into a switch light off an on with a switch..
Help appreciated π

It's a vespa primavera with PK engine it's all on 12v. And yes it's a plastic body Speedo.. I have a spare connection on headlight back do you think I have to connect the black which is earth to headlight then run Speedo light from pilot light.

I have never had this spare black wire connected inside headset but the lights and horn all work ok front and back. But I don't have a pilot light in headlamp as if I remember they kept blowing.. Could this be the reason because the earth isn't connected to headlamp?

There is only so much diagnosing you can do remotely. Photos help a lot.
In order for the speedo bulb to work, it needs power and ground. Usually black is the ground. I would run a jumper off the power feed to the headlamps. Not off the headlamp itself but off the power feed to the headlamp switch. That, and your black for ground, and you should be good.

Ok thanks ..So your saying connect the Speedo wire to live in switch which colour is live ?? The black wire or earth in headset would you connect that up to headlamp then ? Seems like headlamp has a spare connector terminal. And black wire has Spade connector on end. Sorry electrics not my strong point .lol I guess I can try and connect black wire to headlamp it wouldn't do any harm would it

Ok I found out now the spare black wire was my earth and all lights work now I have connected up black wire to spare headset tab then from there to frameπ But my Speedo light still won't work I connected it to earth nothing then I looked at beedspeed wiring loom diagram they said connect it too pilot light white wire did that still no light so I'm stumped. It's a vma2 frame with PK engine all 12v and yes I'm running a regulator. The bulbs work as I checked them out of scoot too.. Anyone have Any ideas ?

It's a conversion harness so I can't help you. Buy a 12v test light like this:

You are looking for a wire that is always powered when the scoot is running.
