Did a check build of the Crimaz Easy clutch yesterday. I think my brains must be broken or something. I've stripped and rebuilt clutches before in about 15 mins but this bastard took 2 hours. I know it's simple but I couldn't for the life of me figure it out what went where. Anyway it's done now but obviously won't fit in the drive whole so I'll strip it down (carefully noting what goes where) and build it up in situ. Naturally I'll need to use my clutch holding tool to tighten the clutch nut and so I'll have to remove the primary nut I fitted and torqued last Thursday. One step forward... two steps back. Here... a 2 hour clutch....Pretty!

Here's a question for the brains. I'm fitting a Polini 24 carb. Any idea where I should start with the jetting?

I’ve got a 45 slow jet and 100 main. Needle on top clip.

Well bugger me! I couldn't build up the clutch using that special tool because the Crimaz opening was too small. In the end I built it then fitted it whole- just needed a light tap to get it in. Went to tighten the clutch nut and as I was nearing the torque level the fvker threaded. Tried another nut but it seems the cluster thread is dead. Nice.
Can I get any more bad luck? Probably.
So I'll have to buy another, split the casings and fit a new one. But it won't be a VMC one because they seem to be made of chocolate. Unless you lot have any suggestions? Apart from "take up fishing instead".
One question, the DRT christmas tree comes with a bendy/wonky washer, do I fit that one or the one with the tab that you bend up around the nut to stop it loosening, or both?
Thanks.

No its instead of the tab washer, I would also put a bit of Loctite on the thread.

Opened up the engine and removed the gear cluster all in less than 15 mins. Pity I'm not as good at building the buggers.
I tired to cut a new thread in the gear cluster shaft but it wasn't having it. Being as you've helped me so much Henri, do you want it? It's a VMC short 4th cluster. Just pay the postage.

New DRT short 4th gear cluster has arrived. It fits much better in the flyside bearing. The VMC would fall out if you turned the casing upside down.
I read on a FB thread that the Pro Cup piston ring is not very good and it should be replaced with a KTM 125sx one instead which measure 54 x 1 mm. I asked the guy and he says to buy a 56 x 1mm and then gap it to a min of 6 thou. What is he talking about? Do I buy the bigger one and then alter it? I don't understand.
HELP!
Henri has answered my question. Keep to the original!!!!
Thanks again H! Thanks

Fairly productive afternoon. Got the cases back together and the clutch fitted. Then went to fit the head and cylinder And found that they hadn't sent the 4 nuts and 4 bolts with the kit I dug around and found a sort of set of 4 I used the thickest gasket first and it came out at 2.2 squish Then I used the thinnest and it came out at 1.24- 1.3. After this, sods law I found the instructions online on the VMC site (another thing not sent with the kit- thanks Officina Tonazzo!) and they say that squish should be 1.4 so I'll wait to fit all 8 nuts/bolts and then try again. Then I was still fresh so I thought I'd fit the Malossi front pads. Look good don't they? Well that's great but the fvcking wheel won't go fully back on. I tried buffing off some of the paint on the back of the pads but it was no use so the standard ones went back on. More parts for the "spares" box. Questions: when I sort the squish and finally fix down the cylinder to the casing should I use any gasket paste? If yes, I have one rated at 300c. Would that be ok? And no paste needed for between the head and cylinder right? Thanks!

Just read all the VMC instructions. Apart from the 1.4 squish they are saying that the head bolts should be torqued to 6, 7 then 9 ft lbs. (8, 10, 12 NM) Lucky I only went to 10 yesterday. Henri, are you sure it's 16ft lbs? I've broken enough shit lately.

Ok. There's no arrow on the piston to show which way it should go so i just want to be 100% sure I'm putting it in the right way round. At the moment the side of the piston that faces the exhaust has no holes in it. Please confirm this is right.
Thanks

Why does nothing I've bought come with any bastard instructions? I'm going to fit this before long. I've fitted them before but they've never had that silver circle on the bottom right of the picture. I'm guessing by the 4 holes spacing it fits to the fan. I'm guessing on the inside of it. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
