in a vain hope of making the "stickies hall of fame" ,an coz a guy asked me in that other place ,we dont talk about ,here goes . crank n bearing 001 by henri briggs, on Flickr crank held vertical in soft jaws vice on the bearing journal not seal surface .bearing ready ,heat gun an digi thermometer . crank n bearing 002 by henri briggs, on Flickr about a 10 to 15 second blast on the heat gun an bearing inner races is around 85 degrees celsius ,do not heat past 100. quick scorch of finger tips an bearing drops over journal ,light tap with a pipe on inner race to ensure its seated against the shoulder on crank . crank n bearing 003 by henri briggs, on Flickr . while bearing cools , flyside case held vertical in soft jaws .heat to 150 degs ,were spit balls up an dances ,i use heat gun on outside an blowtorch inside .heat evenly always moving torch around ,dont linger in any one spot . when cases are hot crank an bearing slide right in easy ,i use a old bearing an washers as spacers an just nip up the flywheel nut to seat it tight an hold it as cases cool an grip bearing . an there you go , no forcing or driving necessary .H

Ok I've no thermometer so you reckon 15 secs is enough with the heat gun? Just so the other guy knows too 😂

Before tapping/driving a crank bearing into place, place a metal wedge between the crank webs opposite the big end.
