Hi all i picked up a nasty v90 in bits from a m8, it was in a proper shit state, someone had cut out the engine bubble for a bigger engine then welded it back in with the finesse of a scabby gerbil. it sat in his garden for a few years then i thought it needed rescuing. Any how ive done a fair amount so far and im hoping to get in on the road for summer. attached are a few pics of how it came to me and how far ive got with it.
And the final pic is how i want it to end up.

Yes, shortbase, 1964 v90 small door. Regarding the motor, i wanted to keep the original, but upgrade it to 130 and 4 speed, but im being told reliably that its a bit of a nightmare to do the 4 speed, so i may just rebuild the 90 and keep it original, and just put a later upgraded engine in to run with.

Very nice. I love the shorter v90's. I am nearly finished with my 64 replica ish. I would post photos, but it says they are too big? I am scooterescue on instagram.

Ok so ive been doing a little more on the frame, had loads of bits delivered, seat, cables, nuts, bolts, trim and the like, and dropped of the engine to a friend in Brighton(also a member here). He has now stripped the cases, salvaged what he could and has bathed them ready to start the rebuild, crank and piston were toast, but the rest were ok, i think we are going to keep it fairly standard considering the 3 speed status. he is going to make it 12v, so its an easy swap out if i want to throw a sportier motor in!

Craig I had my small spigot rebuilt with a 100Sport 3 port top end, Pinasco crank, flytech ignition, 12 volt conversion, promar exhaust and 19:19 carb. Now having an ET3 spec with Pinasco alloy barrel, new crank, flytech and SII banana. The 90 case was cut for the 61mm Sport barrel The new build is on a ‘80 50 Super case that will be converted to 4 speed with 24/61 primaries and a short 4t Here is a link to the process modernvespa.com/forum/topic161685

Craig 4 speed with 24/61 primaries and a short 4th Not to sure about shorth 4th is needed with standard 125 primaries. With 24/61 should pull fourth no problem.

I think we are going with a turned down 90 barrel, ETS crank and 12v, 19 carb. be interesting to see how it goes, not expecting too much, just want to get it running nicely on 12v so can swap in a bigger motor if needed, just thought it was important to keep the original engine with it. Craig

hi boys i'm the "friend in brighton" alluded to earlier ,with craigm's permission i'll throw a few piccys of engine build up as they come . as madmax says above a short 4th isnt required with stock primarys .on 1 of my v90 builds i didnt change them an theres little gap between 3rd n 4th then ,tho 1st could do with being taller as unless on a steep hill start its redundant . Got the frame blasted, then replaced the legshields and engine side frame. then went over everything with sanding disk, lead loaded where needed and primed, im not painting it, im paying for that to be done as i want a top finish!
