Nearly finished my 1967 Nuova and this came up for sale: ET3 1981 in Ocean blue, matching numbers, unregistered Italian import but with a NOVA number. Engine turns freely and apparently has a Pollini sport kit fitted. As you can see it'll need paint and a load of trim bits that are missing, plus shocks, tyres, wheels, badges, seat, horn etc. I found this resto kit on Ebay: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SET-RESTORATION-VESPA-125-ET3-PRIMAVERA-COMPLETE/323176920798It seems good value. Any comments good or bad welcome. Thanks

Hi, looks a decent scoot for a rebuild. Personally if it was me I wouldn't bother getting the restore kit mentioned, if you're going to strip it down, I'd get the parts that you would need as you go along with the restore and that way you can look around for the best quality and deals. Good luck with your build

I know the original colour code for the body but I'm not sure about the hubs, wheels, shocks, fork, flywheel cover, foot-brake etc colours. Can anyone help please?

Cerchi ruote (wheel rims), tamburi (hubs), mozzo anteriore (front backplate assy), tubo sterzo (forks): colore alluminio 1.268.0983 Shocks, flywheel cover are matt black. List of colours. The et3 is toward the bottom.

The et3 is toward the bottom. I'd subsequently found that they were silver and black but had no colour code for the silver and didn't realise it was matt black. That's saved me a massive cock up. Thanks very much.

I wouldn't paint that, just stick a new seat on it, rebuild engine, new cables and off you go!

I've found a new seat for it. Does anyone want the old one? Free? Just pay the postage. I hate just throwing things away.

Just some more updates. All bearings and oil seals fitted. Gear change and kickstarter fitted. Clutch stripped. It's a Pollini and looks unused so I juts put it back together. Silent blocks all changed. Front hub roller bearings changed. Front brake hubs stripped and painted.

its always nicer working on clean parts, and when you do a full rebuild everything works as it should.
the effort will pay dividends

Cleaned up the exhaust, foot brake, fly cover and rebuilt the rear brake. Also fitted all of the bearings and oil seals, kickstarter and bump stops. I managed to get the crank bearing in the drive and vice-versa. What a bellend! Only realised when I went to fit the drive shaft. Another lesson learned!

Lucky escape! I re-started the re-assembly the other day. I wanted to make sure I hadn't missed a step so watched a Vespa E Motori video I use. "fit clutch basket" check! "Fit circlip internal side" eh? rewind "fit circlip" check blueprints- yes def a circlip needed on the engine side as well as the outside! check my bags of parts and it's not there.
So the previous owner had "rebuilt" the engine and left out the circlip!!!
Duly ordered but imagine what would have happened if I hadn't fitted it!

The seal is the wrong way round. The metal ring is supposed to face the bearing.

Well done Max!
Too fvcking late though. I closed the cases last night. Shit and buggery!
I know what I'm doing on Sunday.
Do you think I can get it out and reverse it without a problem? Or will I need a new one?
