4-wheel versions were european models as they would have been classed as cars in the UK, hence why we had 3-wheelers so that folk could ride them on motorbike licence.

So does that make a reliant robin a motorbike/scooter?

You can drive a reliant robin on a motorbike licence in the UK. Whether than makes it a motorbike or scooter is a different matter, same at the old bubble cars really, bit of a hybrid between the 2. Goes by weight and wheel layout or something, hence why Piaggio brought out the different 3 wheel tilters, one you need a bike licence for and one you can drive on car licence - they did this the other way round to try and encourage car users onto 2 (or 3) wheels.

nickj , sorry its not a bike or scooter its still a "plastic pig" . an triffid the rules are a robins drivable on a bike licence if the reverse gears blanked off ,an the difference in the mp3's is the width of track of front wheels .the wider ones are seen as trikes an drivable on a car licence ,the slimmer are 3 wheel scooters , ?, think the distance is 29cm ,but dont quote me on that .H

havent a clue ,have ridden a cossack 650 with sidecar (on wrong side) an reverse . the reverse is actually a "reverser pinion" so when engaged drive is reversed ,giving you all 4 gears backwards .scary ,it was a mates an i couldnt get my head around the chair being to my right ,rode it 200 yards ,got off an walked back an said "heres ya keys,ya bikes over there " .
