Ive got the bajaj work hack but as standard its pretty slow. The gap between 3rd and 4th is massive so as soon as theres a slight hill or head wind it will only do about 40 at a push or sometimes im back into 3rd.
SO ive got a DR kit,race pipe and 24mm carb. I`ll be ordering a race crank with large taper too in the next couple of days. What i dont know about is what to do about the gearing? Can i replace just the 4th gear? Or get a 21 tooth clutch rather than the 23 its got now? I really know nothing about large frame gearboxs so anyone able to point me in the right direction?

I know next to bugger all about the Bajaj's but something in the back of my mind is saying they used 54mm stroke cranks. Gearing might be tough, 23 would suggest that it's using a Vespa 200 ratio but, as said, I've not much of a clue with the Curry burners. If it is a Piaggio ratio then the 20, 21 or 22 cog won't mesh properly with the 65. And not sure about the rest of the gearbox or motor either but I know that Taffspeed worked on these years ago so you might be able to get more info out of Ian if you can get ahold of him.

Unless your chucking money at taff`s ive found them to be the most unhelpful people ive ever come across. Dont think ian will be letting any trade secrets slip without afew gold coins crossing his palms.
I think im going to have to pull the motor and split the cases to find out what exactly is in there and go from there. Leaving the final drive and just shortening the 4th gap would be ideal but ive got no idea what parts are interchangable with the px stuff.

i'd say before ordering everything split the motor an see what ya got .not had a baja myself ,few lml's but no baja's . from memory tho of others ones ,there basically a 2 port super/sprint cases an components . it is possible to fit shafts an trees/loose gears from px 125's/150's etc in them .http://beedspeed.com/html-pages/GearRatios.pdf .this will give you the combinations , but efl components arent usable unless selector box is swapped aswell .
