Cheers dazzz, and yeah I might do as you say. I like scoots with a story, and don't really want a contrasting door really was just thinking of stopping it rusting.

Sounds great Leon. Fantastic effort mate. I hope you now get a spring and summer of trouble free scootering. You certainly deserve it!

You may have already covered this. On the lock stop, you can try and tap the bottom race further down on the fork as it looks a bit too low to meet the stop.

Cheers grim, but not sure what you mean by knocking the bottom race further down? Forgive my ignorance but which bit is that? And wouldn't tapping it lower make it miss the stop by more?

I mean the ring that the bearings run on on the fork. Is it all the way down to where it should be? If so is the cup which sits in the frame that the bottom bearing runs in tapped in all the way to the top of where it should be? Both of these will help line up the stop.

Ah I see. I dunno, I'll have to look up the exploded drawings to help me identify the bits you mean, but thanks for the tip mate I'll check it out.

Changed the cables and reconnected them this week, and took it for its first test ride. Only went about half a mile, but was enough to get up to fourth and back a few times. Gear selection seems much more reliable with the DRT selector. Cables need tweaking obviously, but had no creep with the clutch in which is another improvement on last time.
It might be too short a run to mean anything, but it seemed a little boggy in 3rd and 4th. Have started with an 86 main, so would that suggest too rich mixture therefore need to try a smaller main? (Its a 19/19 carb, DR130, Leo Vince pipe)
Also I'm obviously paranoid about air leaks after last time, and again I don't know if I rode far enough for it to be warmed up enough to show any symptoms, but does it seem to return to idle quick enough in the following vids?
First one is with throttle adjuster screw screwed all the way in (or is it out? On setting with most open slide anyway) and it drops quickly to a smidge above the idle, then back to idle after a few seconds.
On this second vid I turned the throttle adjuster screw a turn or so away from fully open. It drops back to idle much quicker, but when cold that idle speed is too low.
Does it sound ok to you guys?
And would a bigger idle jet allow me to back off the throttle adjuster screw?
Hopefully I've got it right this time.

ok , terminology check , "boggy" as in over 3/4 throttle it goes "flat" ,lean needs a larger main say a 88 , or "boggy" as in misses an 4 strokes ,overfuelling go down to a 84 . tried the vids but cant get sound ,tho did the try the youtube vid of a fit russian bint walking up the road scratching her ass ,a job i'd volunteer for, its planes crashing an other russian heavy metal shit . for me a "ring pinger" goes , RING ,ping, ping ping , as in the rings the blip on throttle an the pings the settle , another pings ok ,but more needs sorting . other than that ,hope ive helped ,tho i doubt it . Haha thanks for that H.
As for terminology, I meant it 4 strokes, I think, so will try an 84, cheers.

Both of these will help line up the stop. i often find that once a newly installed set of fork bearings have been ridden on for a mile or so, the top lock nut needs to be retightend as the first few miles knocks the bearings in that little bit extra

Interesting project. As someone said before funny when you read your comment about just changing a couple of small parts. Reminds me a lot of some of the fun and games I've had with my scoots.
My Vega took my 6 years to rebuild and then has one pain after another..

The fantastic irony of this whole thread is that I'm (hopefully) pretty much finished aside from settling on a main jet and tweaking the cables, and I've now got a slipped disc and have been stuck in the house for the past two weeks hobbling round bent double. Great timing eh?

Ouch. Yeah not only do the scooters sometimes do everything possible to make things hard but life comes along and has its turn.

shit leon ,feel your pain , its a year since my disc's went .the painkillers doc gave me were good but didnt work til i took 3 mates advice they said. "are they the ones that say NO ALCOHOL in big letters " ,yes i replied, "then have a drink with em" . got me from crawling to hobbling ,an using the "big-boy-bog" rather than a milk bottle .1 brandy coffee for brekkie,1 for lunch an 1 for tea , miraculous recovery . an i'm sure some of the lads on here got a laugh out of the dribble i was posting whilst tethered to the bed with a kite string .H

It's horrible innit H.
I ordered myself an an armoured MA1 bomber jacket for riding the scooter to cheer myself up. It arrived yesterday but I can't stand up straight to try it on.

Having sorted out an electrics problem I took the scoot out today for its first proper ride and yep, you guessed, after about seven miles it started over revving like it had an air leak again.
I think me and this scooter are just about finished. I don't think I can face rebuilding it again.

Stick with it Leon, you have come this far. Carb inlet isn't catching on frame it it and moving things about to cause the leak? Check for crack in float bowl too.
