Not sure mine really counts as a project as such as all I'm intending to do is change the carb and fit a new speedo (plus put the badges and legshield trim on) but might as well stick a few pics up for the hell of it eh? Plus the obligatory Scootering front cover shot:

Nice scoot, its weird how the shadows and reflections make your leg shields look like they are battered and bent!

Cheers fellas, its the first time its been out of the shed since I got it in November.
Haha that's my normal face Henri! I'm usually happier than I look.
Think it might be my phone camera making the legshields look tapered.
Yeah I was a bit worried they looked a bit bent too when I looked at these pics. At some point its had a respray clearly, but its not had a full on resto, so theres a few bumps here and there. I was warned by the mate who put me onto it that another mate of his had said it had quite a bit of filler in the legshields but I checked and its all metal, I think its just had extra layers of paint to smooth over the imperfections, as you'd see if you looked closely at where the Piaggio badge goes. Doesn't appear to have had any serious damage in the past, just a bit bruised.
I'm probably not gonna ride it to work as there's currently nowhere safe to chain it up, but I've insured for commuting as you never know.

the lagshield trim can take a bit of nack or luck. i did mine and was not happy with the result. others have got it right first time. and the cost or quality of the tool seems to make no difference.
for buying the trim i would first try len turners in little sutton i got my trim from them (thanks Dave) and it was less than half the cost of what other dealers quoted

what is it ET3 or Primavera?

Cheers tzsteve. It's an ET3 frame but has 50 special casings and I've not identified what barrel it is yet but think it's a 125 or possibly a kitted 135. When I drop the engine to change the manifold to for my new carb I'm going to have a proper look.

I think the cost of replacing the legshield trim properly will be a bit much for the time being. Has anyone ever used any of the cheap rubber trim you can get on SIP etc? Does it look ok and does it stay on? It would only be a relatively temporary measure rather than a permanent solution.

IMHO the chrome trims look good if fitted correctly if they haven't they look pants , your scoot your rules , the rubber trim looks near enough for me though not a cost issue I just prefer the look and colours you can get. Only my own personal opinion.

The missus has rubber trim on her ET3, it looks ok but you really need to pop rivet the ends in place to help stop it sliding off.

Cheers. think I'll go down the route of the rubber trim for now and upgrade later if necessary. Will loot at a riveter too if needs be.

I remember counselling Tzsteve when he went through the factory trim trauma. It takes great patience and a legshield shape very near what it should be to start. The rubber trim looks neat and is a million times easier to put on.

Payday today so just ordered the manifold/bushing intake and gasket set etc to fit the 19mm carb. Hopefully then will run ok and I can think about MOTing it.

have a look at "woolies" for trim.they do classic car trim an rubbers .i use there vinyl weave effect trim on mine ,i followed tzsteve down the ali trim road , didnt make a total hash of it but its still not perfect ,3rd time of doing it an they get better with practice but still a nightmare job. i use the 10mm black trim from woolies on my azure v100 an the grey 15mm on my red large frame .its easy to fit an follows the curves well an have been complimented on its looks often.
