Ages since I started a new project...it's only an engine but its going to keep me happy for a while The plan is to build an M1 engine on a set of cases I bought from Bikegrim that have already been decked and ported for a parma. I am looking for a nice road going motor to go in a nice little scoot I picked up when Ben moved out of his workshop. Spec will be Quattrini M1 with normal intake XL2 clutch standard 12V ignition Franz exhaust DRT Runner tree stock gears.... that's the plan anyway... Started with getting the cases vapour blasted....mmmmm....lovely.... then out with the mounts and a new set installed - want a nice smooth ride when I'm done.. ready to go with opening up the parma ports to suit the M1

Is that just aqua blasted? I mean, it's not painted? Wow!
You know where you've had the faces milled and it's left that bit of the flywheel lip intact? It will distort and rub against the flywheel if you knock it/breath on it/look at it funny.

Yep that's clean aluminium. Won't stay like that for long unfortunately. The thin bit is actually quite stiff but I guess heat from the barrell might affect it....?

How many "spare or project" engine cases have that left lug broken for the flywheel fixing? I reckon 1 in 3

Maybe it would be wise to pull the steel studs now, before they corrode and become stuck. Surely the blasting got water down into the threaded area.

got on with the porting to suit the M1 discovered that somebody had gone through the fly side when it was ported before so a small dab of JB weld needed matching up nicely

is that the 5 tranfer M1 with no bridge in the exhaust port? and you have done well blending the transfers without breaking through the case

Are you going to round the square edges below the transfers?

Are you going to round the square edges below the transfers? I wasn't...does it make much difference to the gas flow given how the rotary inlet works? I've not built an engine up of this spec before so happy for all advice..

I've not built an engine up of this spec before so happy for all advice.. I can't say for sure it makes much difference. It was suggested to me that it does, so I rolled those sharp edges, more so in the middle area leading toward my much smaller Polini ports.

can someone just confirm the piston direction - I assume the port in the piston should align with the ports in the barrel opposite the exhaust port...

Usually has an arrow on the crown that points towards the exhaust.

the ring peg goes to the front and runs between the boost port and main transfer giving about 2.5mm each side of the ring peg
