Like the sound of the ginger and treacle beers Steve. My dad used to do a bit of home-brewing back in the 70's and 80's but it was mostly shite although cheap after the initial set-up costs. This is one of my favourite beers here. Now I'm a fan of the IPA but it's very much more treacley than any other IPA. Give it a whirl should you see it in the Pub or Supermarket.

this little project is coming along nicely, although i did make a few changes to the original recipe so now it`s a custom special i quite like the colour it should be a plum rose` with about 15% alc. when finished

have ya seen those "bootlegger" specials ,bout 14 quid an 6 bottles of 21% spirit? in 4 to 5 weeks , just add sugar , reckon its got to be worth a punt , better than the diy still from china for £80 , with alcohol poisining n blindness thrown in for free , H

bootlegger special sounds like fun. 21% in less than 8 weeks sounds too good to be true.

well it`s finished brewing so i`ll give it a couple of days to settle down a bit before i put it into clean demijohns (1 gallon bottles) to clear for a few weeks then bottle. still not got my corks and corker ready but plenty of time for that.
this project is going very well the total cost has come to about £6 for 12 bottles, not too bad
now getting ready to make a 5 gallon brew of treacle beer. got my: 2 lb treacle, 5lb sugar, 2oz hops, 1 lemon, yeast and yeast neutrient ready total cost about £6 for 40 pints again not too bad.
the brew bin, presure barrel and a few 1 pint bottles are all ready in the attic, just need to time it to be ready in time for sharing with santa so that we can both get a hangover or two ( i guess 10 days for brewing and 2 weeks to clear.
nothing to do with scooters but good for my lifestyle.

Fun project Steve.. looks like you know what you're doing. I tried my hand with a home brew kit once... I don't think I took "Sterile" as seriously as they meant it in the instructions and ended up with 5 gallons of some kind of ghoulish sludge! Happy brewing, and Cheers!
