Hi.
First post here and looking forward to my first foray into the scooter world. Just bought our first vespa, a 1981 primavera et3. Its black but has been resprayed from the original silver. It has polini exhaust and some protuning and PD tuning stickers on so presuming some carb kit been installed. 500 miles since engine rebuild, 13000 before that. No rust anywhere although the paint job leaves a bit to be desired.
Runs well enough but bogs a little in lower revs and won't idle at all without throttle, just dies, so need to look into tuning the low idle screw a bit I think. Also dripping fuel when running which I presume is something to do with a sticky float needle, so need to get some carb cleaner through that to fix it.
Looking to get some mirrors and retrofit the end of handlebar indicator(is this easy?), a rear rack and double seat.
Some pics of a wee test session at a local car park, cbt booked for 3wks time.

O, another thing whilst I'm here.. The rear side panel where there is a locking lid has no lining o anything in it. Looks like it should be a cubby box of some description. What do I call the part I need?
Will get better pics when I get round to it. Maybe make it clearer.

Cheers for the replies. Thanks for the info on the toolbox, must have been cut out for a big exhaust at some point like you say but the one on at the moment doesn't look like it would foul the space where tool box goes. Might have to try source one from somewhere. Interested in your offer of some mirrors and a double seat depending on what you want for them It was bought through Gumtree, yes. Can anyone give me a link to a newbies guide to basic carb tuning so that I can get it tuned so it runs a bit better. Thanks New stuffs today was some Alpinestars gloves, very comfortable and tactile, and a Helix helmet which fits well and has a nice wee visor. Will endeavor to get some pics of everything up soon

Hi and cheers for all the replies. Have been pretty busy of late and not found any time to get to the scooter until last night. So now I have updates. Username was written as Mother Evolution. A friends nickname for me from a while back which has stuck. Excuse the nighttime murky cameraphone pics but well over due to get photos up on this thread. I took the carb out last night, whilst doing so was playing with the throttle cable and it not returning to idle position smoothly so lubed up both ends of the inner cable and ran it back and forwards a few times, is a bit better but imagine that the inner and outer cables need replaced at some point. Next to find the fuel leak. Once the carb was out it was fairly quick to see that there was a mal fitting o ring with the fuel filter which was causing it not to seal. U removed the oring and the filter created a nice seal. Fuel leak sorted. Checked the float. All in tip top condition. Happy days. Unscrewed the jets an blew them through with compressed air and a small copper wire. Jet 60 and jet 42 I noted down the numbers, yet to understand fully what they mean but they're clean and in good nick which will do for now. Put carb back together (dellorto 19:19)and reinstalled into scoot. Find it easier to just let the fuel tap stay attached at the tank end and let it feed out of its hole in the body rather than trying to get to the pin under the tank. Fired it up and sounds good, still not idling nicely yet. But pulls better through the low end than it was. Next I set up the sag on the Bitubo rear shock. I'm going to keep the suspension so thanks for the offer but no thanks. It had been wound all the way to soft so was wallowy to say the least. Now running 15% sag it is much stiffer and responsive to small bumps. ...and for today that's all folks. Just to read up a little and then set down to getting this idle sorted out an I'll be happier. Just ran out of time and weather this session. Need to tax it and insure it. Any recommended insurers for someone with CBT and a Vespa.? Who do you guys use? My car insurer doesn't do bikes.

That makes total sense and have decided not to go down the indicator route. Ordered a mirror from Sip shop and once I dial in the idle then I'll feel easier hand signalling without it stalling on me :-)
