Hey people.. This is my 1985 Vespa PK '50'.. I've had her for about 15 months and loving it. When I bought the smallframe in October 2012 there was a 112cc kit in there, and now (with the help of my good mate smallframetony) there is a 136cc Malossi kit in there. I'm quite light so she will be flying! Just got a few tweaks on the gears, and trying to seal the exhaust as she's choking on what seems to be gear oil. Anyways, just thought I'd get going and say a big 'ello to you all!

Hi Josh, welcome along, nice litle scoot. If you are getting gear oil smoke from the exhaust them your seal has gone and you are burning off the gear oil, which is not good, strip and rebuild I'm afraid.

There's no way I'm changing.. I'd be mad! The whole reason I decided I wanted an engine rebuild was cause I love my PK man.. I only want to improve her! smallframetony introduced me to the forum and have met a couple of lads who are on here at Santa Pod. I can't believe I left it so late signing up to be honest!

Hi guys! Little update... I rebuilt this engine with a friend over a year ago now and it burnt gear oil every time we rebuilt it, he did it his way and i did it mine. And no matter what happened it was burning oil!! 8 rebuilds later!!!!! She fires up lovely and no oil burning! 1 year down the line, new owner (josh) and he wants something with more poke, so i recommend the malossi 136 for the price and i get the job of rebuilding. BUT once again... the gearbox oil is being burnt!! My only guess here is that the cases are warped to buggery and a new set may possibly be needed I'm going to look at it soon as its back in the frame and then i shall update you all on what i find Stay tuned! Tony

Could be dodgy seals, did you replace when you re-built?

Yeah replaced every seal Triffid I went round Josh's on saturday morning and had a little ride etc... Josh accidentally put too much 2 stroke in his fuel! making it smoke loads. She ticks over and runs lovely apart from the air mixture screw is all the way in... no air leaks but she is running rich so i need to sort this small issue out, apart from that she is good to go
