Hy guys, I,m the new kid here in the forum and came to ask your more experience opinion. I just bought a vespa pk 125 and has 60.000km on, and a new polini exhaust its already on its way.
I just wanted to ask what should I do to give a fresh life to the motor? Buy a cylinder and piston kit?
Cheers.

Hi and welcome, 60,000km is quite high if it the original motor but I'm gonna presume that it will of had some sort of service to the top end in its life. A standard pk125 is nippy but a polini 135 is nippier and so on and so forth if it runs and rides well I would enjoy it while the sun shines.
If you start to add parts like uprated exhausts don't forget the carb will need adjusting.

That is always a good way to get it up to date. But hey if it runs great keep going until something starts acting up then do a rebuild...

Did the seller mention anything about the motor, ie has it had any recent parts or a recent rebuild? it also depends on how much you want to spend and what type of motor you want. fast and furious or steady and low maintainance. Start by telling us what type of motor your after and what budget you have. Plenty of people will help you out with advice ps welcome to the forum

Hi and welcome to the forum. If the motor goes well, just leave it as it is (maybe replace the piston ring) and enjoy it until the winter and then replace all bearings, seals etc...

Thanks for the answers! I just payed 400 euros for the little pk 125 and the motor is running good, i just feel that in all thous kms she has lost most of the power and so I just wanted to treat her well and give the motor a fresh start. I have another 400 euros to spend.

if you're itching to spend cash, you could always get another standard 125 barrel and piston, would most likely restore a bit of the original power, and can be done without splitting the casings. that way you could keep the carb setup and exhaust you have now.

That seems like a good idea, I,m going to do it. The thing is that I already bought a polini exhaust and it will be nice to have some more hp and torque, but if it needs messing around with the carb I,m going to let a professional mechanic do it. (I,m loving this forum btw)

I want the motor steady and low maintenance, and if I could reach 10 or 12hp and still keep it steady it would be a charm. But I don,t know if that is possible.
