The engines a 2.0 pinto & is pretty much standard apart from a K&N & a peter lloyd 3" system, it's been cleaned up & everything in the engine bay is refurbed or new Before After (has the peter lloyd 4 branch fitted now) I will keep the engine for a few years yet before I upgrade, love the pinto, it takes alot of punishment ;D Its got new dampers all round & lowered & uprated springs on the front, I was considering putting decambered single leafs on the back but the multi's on it are doing a perfectly good job & it's sitting nice. New TCA's, rod ends, all new bushes, some polly other heavy duty rubber & new steering rack has sorted the front out & it drives nice & straight. The underside has 3 coats of underseal & it will get waxoiled before it goes back on the road. The petrol tanks been out, cleaned up, painted & refitted with new straps & sender unit. The interior has gotten a new dash (well 2nd hand but minted) new headlining, stainless dash insert with 3 off ford racing dials fitted, I found a guy who managed to make me matching ford racing dials for the original 6 pot cluster ;D The stereo has been relocated to the glovebox, minted recaros (been in my brothers loft since the 80S) pretty much finishes the inside off. The outside is getting painted ford stratos silver with 15" deep dish superlights, rs front spoiler & a set of cibbies to finish it off ;D

Very nice, looks like you did a good job on the rot removal. My dad showed me a photo of his Yellow Capri (with aunt posed on bonnet in swimsuit ) a while ago and I got chapter and verse on the car. The engine in his was a bit of a guzzler as my uncle used to do extensive works to race engines in the early 80's in South Africa. My uncle cut my dad a custom crank and did some work on the head and also the fuel system, lots of grunt but not good for travelling far. Hope you're going to give it a black paint job when you're done?

Didn't the South African Capri's have V8's? The name Piranha comes to mind for some reason.

Could be Juan, I think my dad said a tank of petrol lasted him about 280-300km. I'll ask him when I speak to him on Sunday, but now you mention it it may well have been a V8. It was yellow with two black stripes either side of the bonnet? Like this... He loved that car to bits, still remembers it fondly to this day. Then kids cames along along and ruined everything.... ;D ;D

My dad had a mk1 GXL 3 litre auto back in the 70's, the slush 'box was dodgy so he didn't keep it long.
He said the best thing you could ever do with a Capri was to put a bag of cement in the rear most corners of the boot. Think I've got some coil spring lowering clamps in the garage if they're of use to anyone?

Yup one of those. He should have kept it and not had my brother... ;D Just found my uncle (Nellis Toerien) on the net, well, I think he is still alive, he runs SportCam in Cape Town...Just found reference to him on VW site... Bless him...cutting cams, not cranks!
