OK, well work and restricted access have limited time spent on the Spanish Super rebuild. It had anyway slowed to almost dead stop a while ago due to a bent frame, which just got sorted. Its proving really difficult to find the time to work on it and when I do I've found I'm just repeating stuff . So in frustration I did the unthinkable and bought this: Its 4 stroke, 3 valve fuel injected motor is pretty economical, returning about 110mpg. Nice electric start and loads of under seat space. I know its not a Vespa - But I thought I'd show n tell...

You're a brave man. I think you need a rocksolid character to get away with that. For myself I can't fully guarantee that I wouldn't succumb to the sweet temptation of going for a swim with a truck-batterie chained around my ankle.

I don't know, I can see potential in that.
It would need a paintjob though and maybe the addition of a latex set of buttocks with a variable speed easy grip spincter.

Oh, I thought they'd come with these as standard, hidden in the "helmet storage space".

Thanks for the encouraging comments guys! As I thought - just like everyone else you love it and you want one for yourself.
Gets me about - what can I say???

Quite frankly I've kicked whatever pretence there was over board when I got my first XL II. I am no captain of style, and I quite probably never will be. Where I live I get plenty of comments along the lines of "I have a Vespa too, it's a Peugeot" (Vespa being the name for anything vaguely scooter-like). If it does what you bought it for it's great. And as you've said, 110 mpg is very economic indeed. Still I think it's a challenge.

No worries. Cool was always a state of mind IMHO. Still it is a challenge as its 50cc and restricted to 28mph. Forgot to mention it runs on 120/90 10's so at least it reminds me of a proper scoot. (Shuffles off to smallframe shed for a tinker. )

I see. So 110 mpg is a theoretical figure which you will never be able to check because at the sort of "speed" you move one human live is not long enough to ever travel that far. Come to think of it my sofa is not much slower, and I've never had to refuel it.

That's right. I hang on for dear life and pass the time thinking about how I can scrape together enough coppers to fill up after a month of 'speeding about' everyday.
Seems reasonable to ask if you ever sit on that sofa of yours with a pipe?

Cheers! It reminded me of a Harley or Cushman scooter when I first saw one but actually it probably owes more to a model D. PS: I have a tin of olive drab already waiting for the time my Mrs wants to use it! Meantime heres the other side! Still not a smallframe tho' is it

As the saying goes "Each to there own" Just watch out for people throwing buckets of confetti at you when you ride down the road Rob ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

mick64 - thanks for that. Are you sure that doesn't happen to you anyway? ;D And what ride a lardy? This the VSFF so that's beyond the pale mate!! @wm - this thing is so slow I've seen folk throw confetti faster than it can go. You got me with circus reference. Cant get round it that is funny!:-D bikegrim - that would be good wouldn't it. The stickers are there to draw attention to the fact it's so ugly. While I'm waiting for a decently styled big engined modern auto scoot I'd settle for a GP800 or an Xmax but hang on a minute they all look the same. Think ill stick with this little ghost until the Super is done.
