Jimmy, you bringing that on the Bar Italia rideout? Smallies unite! To be honest I doubt it'll be ready until march 2014, let alone 2013! I did pop down soho last year (again without a running scoot, sigh) but this year I'm on my stag do that weekend. Do you get much stick for riding a smallie round Bar Italia? GS-riding parka types are rarely smallie fans

Yeah, but only because they're jealous of my cute ride, flat belly and full head of hair

So jim what's the plans for the engine then standard or tuned beast ? The engine is actually the one out of my ETS, and is already ported and rocking a Polini kit and 24mm carb, but I want to take the opportunity to get it properly sorted. So... * Blast casings to make 'em all shiny like * New bearings and seals * Tidy up ports, as I bodged them a bit last time * Possibly tune the Polini cylinder a bit * Straight-cut primaries * Possibly short 4th * New PM40 chromed exhaust (currently in a box under my sofa) I'm not after creating a monster... I have a motorbike if I want to go fast/get to work on time. Just want something that's reasonably reliable and an enjoyable weekend ride. The big stumbling block at the moment is the intake manifold - I need to have one made that's 3-stud but fits in a V frame, for a 24mm carb. SIP sells one for a 30mm carb that I could use a step-down rubber on, I'd just like to have it 24mm all the way if possible.

With a 30 inlet manifold and 24 carb would there be a volume problem? Its like an exhaust... tapered just before the end can. But the opposite with a 24 carb and 30 manifold. Or would this not make that much of a difference on a road scoot?

Or would this not make that much of a difference on a road scoot? Yeah, this is what I want to know - whether there's a backpressure element to it. Like, if you stick a really thin drinking straw in a can of coke, it flows a lot faster and under more pressure than if you stuck a really wide straw in.

My very limited grasp of this sort of thing suggests I'd lose low-end torque if I went any larger than 24mm. That could be a lie, I'm not sure.

you dont lose much torque with a bigger carb, i run a 35pwk on a rotary and its better than the 30mm tmx on the same motor you may lose a little down low but then the bigger carb will outperform the smaller all the way

I don't want to go through all that again! Also thinking about rather than sticking my old Polini top end on, going for an alu Evo or Parma...

If you can afford it, go for it my Parma has been super reliable (fingers crossed)

Just bought the evo myself, I think it was roughly £280 from sip but wayne may do it cheaper. Trouble is though is the exhaust and everything else that suits it is very costly :/
