Pretty much done now, had to make a loom from scratch and rob some parts from my et3 but it runs, stops and has lights so it's off to the mot man this week There'll be some graphics and stickers to follow. This Saturday I'll be partaking in a 'flat track school' which is a day at Scunthorpes short track to learn how not to die... Can't wait...

Have you had ya mitts on this too hank? It's got quite the forum pedigree Well I did the short track school today, mad fun but it's tricky and we were only on the training track which is about 10 times smaller than the main track. Still picked mud out of my nose. I did a quick vid of some of the other guys, Ill try to post it when I get a minute. Does make you want to buy a little crosser bike though...

I got a million tips mate, it's fucking harder than it looks! The theory is coming into a corner you tap the rear brake to get the back to lose traction then steer into the corner with your weight 'on top' of the bike (as opposed to how you would take a road corner by leaning your weight into the corner). You then push the bike down with your right knee and balance using your left foot on the track with the hot shoe. Then it's a case of nailing the throttle, don't ever touch the clutch, and trying to hang on to the slide without losing the rear. It's a knife edge and one of those techniques which is easier with a bit of speed but once you've stacked it a couple of times my confidence got a bit dented... I want another go! ;D Only drawback for me preventing an immediate dirt bike purchase is the thought if I break a bone I can't work and my finances are too delicate at the minute...

Sounds like a lot of fun!
Did you take your pk down the track or borrowed dirt bike?
How do you think it will work with the scoot? Enough power?

We used their CCM 250 four stroke dirt bikes, they took the piss out of me all day for saying I was gonna try this on a scooter ;D I think it's going to be very hard on the scooter, there's a number of problems. Wheel size is going to lower traction and make the slide even more uncontrollable, the steering stop on the forks may restrict corrective steering manoeuvres, there's no tank or centre brace to squeeze your right leg into which may lead to you 'standing up' on the scooter when it starts to slide and that's a big no no - I kept doing this on the dirt bikes - as it starts to slide the instinct is to lift yourself out of the seat and then all traction is lost and the bike slides off, MUST STAY SEATED!!! The other problem is the power delivery on a 2-t engine, what you need is a long and even power band as the clutch isnt touched but the throttle used in conjunction with the steering... oh dear Another top tip is to stick your elbows out so you can steer when it starts to drift, sounds simple but your self preservation makes you tuck them into your body. The trick is to move your throttle hand further around the grip as it forces your arm higher. Apparently this event has pre sold 500 tickets so I get to throughly embarrass myself...

Don't get me wrong mate I think it's gonna be a laugh but realistically we won't be flying around the track, we spent the whole day doing laps of the track and I was still crap, I'm glad there's a few practice sessions early on!
Presume you've got some decent boots too mate, if when you fall off it's ya ankles that'll get squished. I'll knock up a couple of basic metal shoes for us but I'll need the outline of the sole of your shoe and the height of the toe, could you email or scan that info?

Getting more and more tempted by this, i bet its a great laugh. I have to say i admire you both for giving it a go, but hate to think of the state your ankles will be in afterwards....

Ben, I'll be using MX boots. Size 8 if you want borrow a pair? I'll send the info over but not sure if we will benefit wholly from the hot shoe thing but I'll take your word for it and thanks for making me one. Shane, I'm working on the basis that a scooter is easier to get off when it all goes wrong ;D

I'm ok for boots thanks, the hotshoe is must-have really to slide the corners you need the left leg to balance. It'll also assit your escape when the scoot lays down and you skate off on the steel shoe in the opposite direction (or maybe that's just my technique) ;D
Is Sticky having a crack at this madness?
Also worth a watch if ya hadn't already is the documentary On Any Sunday, someones put it on YouTube... Part 1...
