just a thought- -could you enter the chopper class on the cutdown? don't need to be street legal.

Ta, I'll get it in the post as and when mate.
No problems on the hot shoes, I'll make some up. The scooter I'm picking up tomorrow has a V5 so I'm gonna get it on the road anyway so for this time round I'll stick with the inappropriate street class but if Sticky can work his magic and there's enough interest maybe we can have our own scooter class in future which I'm sure won't need registrations... ?
I'm also thinking the knobbly tyres might be a bit too much grip? An old school block tread ditch finder tyre might be a good compromise.

And just to throw another question out there, maybe a 3-speed gearbox would be better suited for this...

yeh i reckon block tread race wets would be better than nobblies as long as no rain!
I have a 3 speed box and some 90 primaries that i considered throwing in to another set of cases that I have - you might have a point as less gear changes and short blasts are the way. I reckon we'll be luck to get 50mph on straights - what do you think? I you tube'd the speedway track and it's not massive assuming tha'ts what we use. I was going to use my 18bhp malossi but down geared - but I might have to try the Autisa with reed that currently i'm building for the road.
we'll have to have a chat about it

The more power the better! Last summer we were cruising a 10km bit of sand road. It got boring and I started to drift corners. With Conti Twists I could easily get it sideways with throttle only in third once in the power band. This with the M1L. Dont think I could have done it with knobblies. Definately would have been faster but thats not the point in a race like that. The better show you put on the nicer for the audience.
Love this thread.

Thanks for the tyres barney, will need to experiment to see what works, I'm thinking some pacemans or maybe just some crusty old ditch finders. Garath, i now reckon 4 gears with 90 primaries might be the way forward, flexibility to keep in the power band to keep the wheel spinning. I don't think cornering speeds much above 35mph tbh, as nicsar said more about style and technique (and not getting run over lol). Nicsar, are you saying it was easy to drift just rolling throttle on loose ground or it was hard, bit confused?!!! Big thanks to Breezer too who sold me his PK project for the left turn cause, he's put some nice touches to it. Picked up today, engine tomorrow then expect a list in the wanted ads.

Sorry bout that. Yes, it was easy, when in the powerband it went sideways by rolling the throttle. With better tyres it would be harder I guess.

Yeah the frame is quite tidy, really rigid compared to v range. It'll look ratty soon enough, there's no sip seat, hugger mudguard or toolbox with it, I'll get some pics up tomorrow when I doink the engine in...

If you are going to run your Autisa Gareth I have a spare higher tune one with kwak piston, head and packer you can borrow for the event if you want. Just ship it back to me when you have finished. Be a shame to rag your kit before you have chance to set it up properly and run it in. Would love to bring my bike along but cant afford the respray ;D

Bit slow, lots of little jobs. Fitted seat lock, new stator, cut hole for (wrong) carb manifold, collected and fitted side stand, headlight bought. Need to pick up a loom which should be at my parents then I can get the bugger running... Jobs left - Make a number plate mount Buy an exhaust bracket bobbin, choke cable and knob, bulbs Attach cables and carb Fit egt Assimilate the two wiring looms + brake lights Get mot Bit skint and no free time this week How's yours looking garath?

Shipped the kit to you today Gareth. Did some work on the exhaust port on the weekend to pep it up a bit. Put the flywheel in too for you to test Rhys

And I put leopard print grip tape on the floor boards which is arguably the most offensive thing I've done to a scooter... ;D
