The thing that always amazes me about Charley, apart from his huge knowledge and ability around mechanics, is the way he looks so natural tucked in for such a big man. Sort of like the sadly missed Marco Simoncelli of the scooter world.

His achievements are outstanding... my second race meeting was at Pembry last may, Charlie passed me at the chequered flag, flat out in the rain.. he absolutely pissed the race win, and was just lapping me for the second time..... the speed Charlie`s bike passes you is unreal..... he has given me some good advice this season, and for that im very gratefull.... the best photo above is the one where he`s working on his bike in the awning... looking like a naughty school boy letting car tyre`s down.... ;D ;D maybe thats it, thats what he does sneaking round the other racers in the paddock..... good pics Tony, anyway get Charlie to sign up on here.. he knows his way around a Smallframe engine and chasis, and after all he`s got yours and john woods SS`s performing "REASONABLY WELL" although i dont think Charlie is big on forums is he... shame.

some great photos!
but my god that stinger is long on the exhaust?
6th pic from top i think is best, it looks as if the front wheel is of the floor and shows the tyres really working hard!

They ARE great photos. You should think about maybe going semi-professional Tony. Whenever I've been Charlie has always been a great ambassador for scooter racing, always chatty & friendly & willing to explain stuff. The whole PT crew are to be fair though.

J Cheers jacques... but erm... guy topper is on a grp6 (no restrictions) 256cc watercooled reed valved, cutdown lambretta. Charley was on an unwelded, piston port mugello with 207cc in a full bodied bike ;D Different groups completely.. in fact he shouldnt be anywhere near Guy. Charliec... this pic is for you... Jim... I was on tiptoe

Love it. Especially because he makes that bike look tiny. Bohemoth land monster. What better form of rebellion than making a machine perform far beyond the degree that it was ever designed for. Bad. Ass.

thanks for the cool photos tony. charlie has a very professional setup.
very motivating for me as i am in the long slow process of building a race lambretta.
is charlie passively cooling the engine with those scoops, or still using the fan? i didn't use a fan on my fabrizi, just a scoop.

@shaggy cheers mate.. I never beat him in a race. But only started near the front once at Donny. I think mallory is the only track I set a faster lap time on than Charley. All the rest he was quicker. Cadwell by a fraction, He is well over 6ft 6 so he does make the bike look small.. whereas me i make my bike look big!
This was a good year for us.
