on a slightly different topic to normal but same principles, what do you think the best way is to unlock/remove a Yamaha DT125's petrol tank cap when the key has been lost!!! I'm thinking large screwdriver, then drilling or maybe i should just get my forgetful son to take it to the local yamaha dealers who of course will royally rip me off!

y6u could try a big screwdriver and hammer but that might fold the neck in a bit like dropping a full bottle of coke on its lid. id go with the drill i think, easier to replace the cap than the lid hank

or!!!!! go to your nearest bike breakers take the tank with you and ask to borrow all their yammy keys.i recon the lock should be quite worn by now so you might get lucky and it will only cost you a few packs of hob nobs if anything

cheers, but done it easier than i thought. Just pushed a large flat headed screwdriver in and using a spanner on it turned it open! very secure, not. it still shuts and locks fine, albeit a key's no longer needed! standard 125, does 70mph and thats with a restricted exhaust........the joys of modern 2 stroke engines

couldnt care less about the petrol cap anymore, its not there, in fact the whole fucking bike has gone! - another break in overnight, another 2 wheeled vehicle stolen, doubt this one will come back, it'll just be ragged over some fields and dumped. i hate this country and the scroats who think that they can just take anything they want and dont give a toss about how hard people work to get things, sermon over

Not again? You need some better security. 6" tall locked gates would be a start ground anchor & big chain for the bikes.

I do have a locked 7 feet high gate/panel blocking off the side of the house (changed since your were last there) they/he climbed over it, unbolted the top & bottom bolts and ripped the mortice lock off! the mistake i made was not fitting either barbed wire or nails on the top - that will now change. The bike was the locked shed at the bottom of the garden which isnt a b&q shed, it was hand built and is pretty substantial, in fact the two padlocks are still there, they just forced the hinges off have to think on the ground anchors question if we replace the bike that is, tbh im still off all 2 wheeled transport at the moment, havent got the motivation.

really sorry to hear it hank it is like than round here and the scrappers will look into the gardens on are street at least once perday, if its sunny will see them all day
i do hate the gypsies they camp everywere and are just 2 streets down from us, - i know how you feel mate what worked for us is to put up a metal bar across the shed that is anchored on either side of the door, until the bar was left of and the normal lock was on, got up later that day and the metal bar (flat bar about 1" thick and 4" wide) was gone ther bastards! need to get another one now! sorry to hear it mate, as ive been told i have to move the scoot into the shed now im going to lock that thing up tighter than seen
really sorry to hear it hank but at least the PK was back in peice although petrol free -
it is riddled with gypoes round here honestly, - though there the only other white people we see - i feel mad at this hank!

I know, I'm gutted and my sons worse - got it for his 17th birthday two months ago. I might let him drive the pk for a couple of months, try and get him into scooters instead of bikes security is being improved this weekend! I've actually got a lead on a possible culprit, though its not definate yet, watch this space.

It's awful. I don't know how lucky I am, really.
We don't even lock our car most nights & I've left the garage door open with the lights on all night once or twice.
That said, we've had scrappies coming round in a van a few times, lately. When I saw them coming last time I stuck the ETS in the garage and shut the door 'til they'd gone.
I had one thing I wanted rid of, a pallet.
'No, sor, we caan't take wood...'
