No need to cut the frame with the crankcase reed manifold. Just make sure you get the PK one. So, the PK one will fit a V90 engine? Perfect, thats made me happy...I'd seen quite a few different mentions of Reeds on here and holes for the carb and whilst the scoots not perfect, I still didn't want to start hacking at her

Yes, the 2 studs PK manifold will fit the 90 casings.

Yep, that's the one. I've now read Norries tuning book and think i'm a bit wiser now Great book and will certainly be going back to it a fair bit. Now checking out the other books on the list Once thing I have wondered about is that it seems to mention a larger carb than 25mm for a reedvalve set up. Is this right or would a 25mm be fine? I've also got a 28mm minus the float bowl that could be recommissioned if it's better? I've split the rear wheel and the rims are really rusty inside, so they'll probably go in the bin, i've also taken all the manky old paint off the rear hub and it just needs to be degreased before repainting black - thinking black smoothrite so it gets a nice thick coating..... also, taken the end can off the exhaust to give it a good clean up - pretty rusty at the mo, but, seems solid enough

The 25mm carb will work ok with reedvalve (I have one on my malossi).

more pure speed if your aiming for that sort of thing i would use the 28mm and if you go on the german scooter forum they ofthen sell the better malossi reed valve bits, might be worth having a little look into

Cheers guys, much appreciated, Charlie I was thinking of a Malossi Reed kit, do you mean there are 2 types? - Just trying to work out my shopping list which seems to be growing quite quickly Still it'll be worth it in the end ;D So far I have on the list: GS Piston Kit Malossi reed valve kit probably 25mm (maybe 28mm) Worb special lip crank New clutch Basket and primaries Please let me know if anythings wrong or missing that would help as I want to do this properly. I'm guessing the GS piston fits straight into the Malossi kit - is this correct or does it need any mods? My current Primary gearing is 27/69 1st = 46/10 2nd = 50/14 3rd = 54/18 4th = 58/22 Does that look suitable? I'm thinking that I need to do something about 4th as I remember that 4th never pulled very well and as soon as I hit an incline it was like a crawler gear. Any ideas or would one of these short 4th's sort it out? I'm also trying to work out what to do with the clutch. I had a 4 plate single spring clutch in it previously and I'm wondering if this should be fine again or if it is worth upgrading as I have to buy a new basket etc anyway. I've read through the posts on XL2 clutches and they sound like a good upgrade, but, then believe I'd need to get a new cover etc from SIP too costing more cash. If I'm likely to have issues with the 4 plate then I'm happy to go for the XL2 and know someone selling a clutch. I'm guessing I can then use a DRT spider. Not sure how the primaries fit onto this though and can I just remove the primaries from my current basket and fit them? Cheers Smallframe Gurus

Who made the exhaust? Looks like a PM tuning designed system.

the other reeds you can use on the barrel are rd350 one (which i have ) or kx80
the xl2 clutch doesnt need the xl2 cover to work im using mine without one.
A DRT short 4th 48tooth will pull alot better than standard Just make sure you order the 1976 onwards one

i have the RD350 one but i havent put it on yet, going to try rout the inlet to not touch the frame (or cut a whole)
though as i have been told they are only approraite for 20 + bhp engines

Who made the exhaust? Looks like a PM tuning designed system. As far as I was aware it was a mate of mine that did all our tuning and spray jobs back in the day, but, am having doubts especially after your comment as it has a little PM tuning stamp on the end can How are they for power?

Are they better suited for Sprinters etc rather than road going machines? Xl2 and short 4th sound like a goer too, cheers

The RD reed will just give that extra umph over standard malossi as its slightly bigger, Just had a look on LTH and they dont sell them anymore however you can get them from MRP www.mrp-racing.de/index.php?a=130 They are quite expensive for what they are tho I suppose its because they are only made in small batches It will be alright to use on the road.

They do look good, although I think the fact that it's direct induction puts me off - I'd prefer not to cut holes for the carb or leave the side panel off, but, good to know about for the future in case I change my mind

Don't need to cut holes for the malossi direct induction manifold. It fits nicely in the frame. Again, make sure you get the PK one. ;D

Ooops, sorry, the direct intake might need some cutting of the frame on a reverse barrel (forgot you've got reverse! : . Shaggy has one on his 100 sport so he could clarify. The crankcase induction fits with no extra holes in the frame. ;D
