Ron Haslam is one of my few heros, more to do with his sideburns rather than his racing though. Seriously, his autobiography Rocket Men was a top read and gave some great insight into the type of person who rides at that level. You ever pulled on a set of leathers Noride? I hold bike racers in the same regard as boxers, no matter the level there's no Mugs and they deserve nothing but respect. Apart from Audley Harrison, obviously.

@ Noride: You tried? I personally never thought about that. Didn't take me long to get the physical part sort of right, hanging off, knee down and that stuff. Unfortunately the mental part appears rather more important, and I'm not very good at that. Good racers will at least remember the general layout of a track if not all the details after comparatively few laps. I remember doing a 24 hour race once, 4 one hour stints for me on a comparatively small cart track. At the end of the last stint I did I was quite surprised to find a pothole just next to the line I'd been using for pretty much all the time. Not a new one, mind you. That's because most of the time I'm thinking about god knows what, but not my riding. Result: I manage to look the part on pictures, lap times are rather sad though. But that's pretty much over and done with anyway.

Hey hey hey hey HEY
I don't just act like a knobhead, I AM a knobhead as many who know me will attest.
Actually I am quite offended by that - I'm quite helpful usually, especially when helping forum members decide which female celebs they would most like to see naked and eating which particular variety of biscuit based snacks.
Maybe we will meet again and I'll do something quite shocking, like er um er er Hold a little plastic model of a troll up at you, yeah, thats what I'd do yeah
NB please note that was actauly a stock image from google. I have never owned, nor will ever own something quite as horibel as that. No offense obvoiusly intended to any troll colectors/fans. Or indeed to the trolls to themselves. Or anyone. Even peopole that won't read this.
I'm off to sulk.

kinda missed this... whats been going on... Now if anyone is allowed to spit the dummy its gotta be me... I blame my italian blood... however we all can get a bit sometime ... its human nature.
So.... for Noride... hope u come back.. I can see you may of been taken a little wrong... the comment about the race lines may of did that. But let me explain a little... at race schools they teach you the perfect "wet" line... ie.. the smoothest fastest line.. they teach you turn in points, braking points, markers, exit points...countersteering.. how to focus your attention on certain areas of riding... how much you expend in the braking, the turning in... the drive.. etc.. this is pretty basic stuff and it works.. sure... but in a race situation your line has to change as there is Guy Topper trying to pass you underneath or you are riding around the outside of a fella who is off line but you dont trust ... in real race terms it all changes. What the motorcycle race schools dont teach you is to ride a 30hp vespa... and tbh i couldnt either cos they want to bite.. lines go out the window..and the only thing holding it all together is your back side... I get scared when I fire my bike up.. I am into car tuning too... the guys at my race center looked at me kinda strange when they realised that my vespa is near 500hp per tonne which puts it into perspective. So I can 'get' that some guys on here may of been offended by your posts... me... well no I am not... not really... come along... and have a look... you know the colour of my bike
this is me finding out it isnt that easy 2 yrs ago....
