Looks nice. I'm presuming there's an option of having the can point back or under the floorboards?
Just that I seem to remember seeing one with the can running under the floor on here before, Nicsar's maybe?

Yeh I think it is Nicsars, it could easily be made to go that way if you fancied it, its pissing down here so am waiting for the drier end of week the weather people are saying theres going to be to take it out for a blast, went up and down my street earlier and the front end was lifting lol ;D I wanted mine pointing backwards anyway though

Yeah, I noted the weather in sunny Bolton. ;D
Nah, I like the look of the rearward pointing can better and I'm not talented enough to grind it out by much I'd have thought.

Just that I seem to remember seeing one with the can running under the floor on here before, Nicsar's maybe? They are sold as DIY kits, so people have built all sorts of things with the bits you get. I personally don't really like the proper down and forward thing. Used to have a Kegra D + F years and years ago, lost the can while doing what felt like a ton or so on the autobahn. Running over it with the backwheel did give me a bit of a shock, that's why I don't really like that.

Have you looked at the way Charlie has routed Tony's pipe mate?It could be an option to offer those with talent who need extra ground clearance. I have to say I just can't abide the look of a conventional D&F pipe myself either.

I have to say I just can't abide the look of a conventional D&F pipe myself either. I did, yes. I personally think a curly is the way to go for racers though. A high revving pipe is rather short usually, so it would actually be possible to hide and thus protect it almost completely. With the one pictured here one might be tempted to think it limits lean angle. It doesn't really though. Once you start going around corners the suspension compresses, so the muffler moves upwards. It should still be the rubber of the mainstand you ground first. Only likely if you ride it supermoto-style, I'd say. If you ground that hanging off you are likely to have left touring mode.

I much prefer a curly as it follows the lines and curves of the bike. I got the inspiration for mine from a picture of Terry Frankland's old race bike.

I wouldn't argue that, all I was thinking was more for ET3 etc. frames who didn't want to chop the box although I'd imagine that's far down the list of importance for the vast majority.

graham made me a lovely curly when i raced at kegra.. bikegrim has it now on his malossi racer which is my old gp3 motor from 2000 . My race pipe is all about performance rather than looks. As mathius will tell you its all about egt and getting that to work for you. I was impressed with mathius hammerzombie's performance tho o yours dave... works well. I have an et3 and will need a pipe for it at some point and do not want to remove my toolbox

I wouldn't argue that, all I was thinking was more for ET3 etc. frames who didn't want to chop the box although I'd imagine that's far down the list of importance for the vast majority. I used to be a bit of a butcher when it came to Primavera/ET3 toolboxes. Since they are not really growing on trees any more (I think in Italy they actually did just that. I remember buying my ET3 for around 40 quid. Mind you, it did have a flat tire and was in dire need of a paintjob only 30 000 miles later. The Italian owner really had good reason to leave it at a scrapyard) I personally stopped that quite some time ago. Still most racers don't mind removing the toolbox, or they use a frame without a toolbox to start with. I mean usually your frame is not likely to get any better once you take it racing. A lot of the guys have actually started using PKs already, and it isn't a problem there. Still for the roadgoing faction I understand the problem and I'll be looking into that once again as soon as I find the time. The fact that there are new cylinder kits coming out every other second, and that quite a few of them deserve dedicated pipes does not make things easier.

Yep, I'm guilty as charged for cutting my toolbox out, only I threw it away like a daft cunt luckily I sourced another from a dodgy frame that the frame no was for a 100 sport for a prim frame so couldnt use it for a road scoot so, including myself theres 4 people been able to use various parts from that frame and I have a toolbox to go back in mine when I respray it next time along with a legshield toolbox Mathias, an ET3 for 40 quid

That was nearly 20 years ago, mate. Those times are gone for good. I recently asked an Italian friend whether he could find me a nice original condition ET3, and he said he'd only bought one for himself at what he called a bargain price of 3500 Euro.

Yeh, prices have gone silly for sure, its a shame because greedy people ruin genuine enthusiasts enjoyment don't they, been a massive fan of smallframes since I had my first one at 15, a Primavera a mate picked up for £10.00, it had rotten floor which a local welder fixed up for a further £10.00, and I was on the road ;D still got old pictures of that too

That said I hope you're going to be upgrading the hoops from the S83's on the last picture you've shown me of it, they were out-dated 25 + years ago FFS!
