just bought this today. 90% restored japanese market 1997 v50. one of those projects that people dont quite complete.. the guy that owned it works in a motorcycle shop, and its very well done. just the engine needs assembling. i got it for the equivalent of 1000 quid. a paint job costs more than that, so im happy. i want a stealth scoot, so that it still looks like a 50cc, but pretty quick. im going to steal bits off my old race fabrizi, or maybe splash out for a falc...

There is a guy in Germany who does a discbrake which keeps the oldstyle hub on a PK fork. Maybe that would be interesting for your street sleeper look.

im not trying to be a smart arse but isnt that for a 4 bolt hub? v 90 styley? im not sure what you mean? early pressed single piece wheels are held on by 4 bolts arent they? i have a v50, v90 and they exchange wheels. and this italian wheel in the first pick seems identical. please correct me before i waste a fair bit of money on the wrong one... but this vietnamese one looks a lot better made than the italian brake-

www.vespatech.de/projekte/Scheibenbremse10Zoll.htmThe German version. He took good care not to offset the wheel, and it goes onto a PK fork. I personaly am not sure whether I'd like to improve braking power with the old style fork and suspension setup.

i have a spare pk fork and disk off my old race scoot. i could use that, but doesnt the front mudguard need a fair bit of panelbeating to fit, and they look a bit chunky. but the brake worked great while racing- except for the bending under hard braking.

That point is still being discussed, I think. I have an SS (Replica) mudguard on a PK fork which fitted straight onto the modified fork, and I have two PV mudguards on PK forks which also were a straight fit after modifying the "crown" of the fork and repositioning the lugs for the fitting of the bolts. Some people would confirm that, some say it needs work on the mudguard as well. If you look at the mudguard in the link I posted it's pretty much where it's supposed to be, even though the bearing seat of the fork is not lowered on the fork in the picture, and the shock and the "leg" of the fork are not shortened either.

finally got this running yesterday. i put all my old racing fabrizi parts in it, a spare 54mm fabric crank, cast iron 152cc cylinder and pipe, put on a small 28mm carb and a small reed (that i stole off a auto tuning kit!) and my vespatronic ignition. even with a reduced compression and small carb it still wants to fly. I'm running a little rich as i think it will be an easy seize cylinder. even quite rich (its four stroking almost) it seems very hot. also the clutch is slipping bad. its a 4 plate cork pk clutch with 6 strong springs with little springs inside them. i think i should be buying a new clutch. has anyone tried one of these- www.sip-scootershop.com/en/products/clutch+newfren+race+for+vespa+_93495000i dont trust iron cylinders, so I'm on the lookout for something to replace the iron fabrzi. maybe i could use my old alloy fabrizi, but its been altered a fair amount. but its good to have a small frame on the road, and not just a racer that i only take on the track a few times a year . paul

Nah, they have to fit up and down the way on a fork leg or to the frame else you won't be able to fill them with brake fluid.
