Where did the mod vs. rocker spirit go? All the bikes are fourstrokes! And quite a few of them American on top of everything. I mean there's nothing wrong with the pre AMF stuff per se, but the whole Harley thing has gone so dentist, it's hardly bearable, is it? I mean scooters too have become the weapon of choice of fashion victims worldwide, but this stuff here is on a completely different scale. A footballplayer dressed up as working-class-weekend-warrior "snapshot" for a fashion magazine doesn't help either. Sorry.

Do you Google up Brad Pitt much then Hank? lol! normally i google his wife, but i'd like to pull that beard A footballplayer dressed up as working-class-weekend-warrior "snapshot" for a fashion magazine doesn't help either. Sorry. he actually owns that bike and has been seen riding it round LA, its a celebrity thing, he got the bug from his mates (short arse cruise and the gobby jock - gordon ramsey, not juan)

Yes. And that picture really was taken when he stopped to refuel after a hard day's ride. And when they shot the Adidas commercial with the scooters (idea by one of the Amsterdam scooterists who does advertising for Adidas) he insisted on taking the scooter with him, because that "is the usual thing to do" and had his PR bloke state that he was an avid and longtime scooterist indeed. Which proves that he's very fashion sensitive. That's neither here nor there though. I just find it amazing how many scooterist seem to have be fascinated by that American stuff, that's all. I personaly find a Harley the very antagonist of a smallframe Vespa, maybe that's why I find is so amazing.

Where did the mod vs. rocker spirit go? The Mods vs Rockers thing was bollocks from day 1, as far as I'm concerned it's never been more than tabloid fodder. A lot of my mates have lammies AND rice rockets, although they don't really ring my bell. Vintage brit bikes though are a different matter and I'd quite happily swap a kidney for one. The old boys who were rockers back in the day are on the whole more fun to chat to than your average mod. They don't really care about scooters vs bikes they just like old stuff, and engineering. I've lost count of the amount of bits I've had machined (free of charge) by "rockers" I'm with you on Harleys though.

That was just a clishee thing. I find the mod stuff rather boring, and generally I also find some of the bike guys authentic and genuine enough to make them attractive as persons. I have fabricated quite a few things for some of them. The whole Harley-mania with overpriced fashion accessories finished of with an artificially aged lid and boots is beyond me though. It's a pitty that this, at least to me, throws a shaddow on otherwise cool things such as a WLA, or, WLC, or anything up to the early shovelheads basically, with the XR 750 of course.

When is was in the states last the place was swarming with these. If you get closer they start looking extremely Chinese in a 199,- Euro Ebay-Pocket-Bike sort of way, if you know what I mean.

Yeah with you on that one Jim, Lisa's step-dad is a old rocker from back in the day ( still rides as well) and his attitude to what I do has always been cool, most old 'ton-up boy's have a pretty laid back take on all things two- wheel's- some have even had the odd 50's lammy or Vep. Most Mods do seem to have attitude, fuck knows why? with the exception of a couple of life style modernists I know, the majority look and act like clowns

Oh the subject of Harley's - once had a go on a 883 sportster- it was like riding a two wheel tractor, not much of a white knuckle ride and found exhaust tone a bit annoying after a while, don't mind Buells though...

Where did the mod vs. rocker spirit go? Could you please explain the, predominantly if not exclusively, German "Patch" Clubs fixation for leather waistcoats with their "Colours" on? ;D

Oh, I've rode Harley's and found them alright if you like that sort of thing, wouldn't buy one though. Brit, Euro or even Jap big twins if they're styled right is a different story though.
