My 2nd Mini was an 1100 Sport with wide wheels, i decided they weren't wide enough and fitted 2 lots of spacers to the wheels...Luckily we were only doing about 50 when the left front wheel studs snapped and the wheel went bouncing behind us, happy days indeed! ;D

My mum had one in the earliy 80's, one of the Special edition 1100's in Rose Pink with a Tan vinyl roof and alloys styled like the old MGB ones.
Can't stand the horrible little fuckers myself but have fun with it. Oh, keep it that orange, it really suits them.

My folks had a mini clubman estate in bright yellow. When it rained at night it used to make the lights cut out Not what you want when travelling on the unlit back roads of north east Scotland. Had a funky little aftermarket steering wheel though, about the size of a side plate!

Fookin love classic mini's I used to own three and have them all round my nans house when I was 18. An 800, A 1000 and a 1275GT that had the engine sorted. Ive often thought about buying another and sticking a 16v in it. How are you going to do it up? Custom, Classic or balls out Monster ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

eean: Not too keen on the deseamed ones unless you keep the roof lip, I dont know why but the lip round the rood makes it!
I used to have a 35 year anniversary one, Cherry Red, brilliant, although I think I got proper done over on it when buying it off 2 dodgey blokes from Bolton. "Sports Exhaust" turned out to be 2 exhausts badly welded together.

The mini engines are a poor design if you ask me. I want to make it a bit of a street sleeper. I have a 1275 engine, rod change gearbox, front 10" disc brakes and coil springs. Next thing to get is a performance handling kit from minisport and nolathane bushes. This project will take years though, we are about to have our 1st baby and she has to quit work for a while.

Pish, I didnt take the roof seem off it, they look mad with that gone and you get wet when it rains Vegagirl, theres always plenty of rust on them, its the bits you cant see that are usually the worst bits, have it checked properly by a mechanic before you make an offer on it, they can be a money pit if you buy a duff one

Rust and roof leakage is the devils work especially when you live by the coast and don't have a garage. It's the reason I'm having to get rid of my beloved MR2 mk1. There'd be no problem with rust with a glass fibre Lotus, but I hear replacing the steel chassis can cost a few thou

Is it true that you can build a mini from spare parts? By that I mean that you can buy every part of a mini as a spare (sub frame, wings, roof etc).
First Thursday of each month is Mods"n"Minis at the Ace Cafe. Sometimes pop along with the West London Alliance, unfortunately loads more minis than scoots but some really tasty minis there, sadly quite a few new BMW ones though.

I havent really done much on the mini for a while. Got me a MIG welder a couple of weeks ago, a Transmig 135. For panel work its quite good. Anything heavier and I will be using my arc welder. I made some mounts for a set of seats from a Honda Integra. The old mini seats are a bit crap really. A couple of the spot welds need to be ground out and redone. Because I am welding the towers in I need to get the seats certifited but its not a big problem really as I need to get that done anyhow with a bigger engine going into it. For the paint scheme I was thinking about a digital camo pattern. It will be very tricky especially since I have never done anthing with stencils before. I am going to do a test before I do the real thing. The effect I want is something like this: (top right)
