Clocked at over 90 at the weekend. Hi. I hear this is the place to be for small frames, and as I have not owned one since I was 16 I know nothing about them apart from how hard it is to put the damn cables in! ;D Picked this up from over in North Linconshire at the weekend after meeting a bloke when parked up on the way to Cleethorpes. Was told it was a Primevera but turns out its a Vespa 90. Not a SS unfortunately as I'd been day dreaming about. It does have a Primmy engine in it though. Got a load of spares as well including the V90 engine, forks, headsets, hubs etc. His son used to be into scooters and its been stuck in the guys barn for the last 15 years or so. My plan is to sort out and list all the spares and then work out what the Vespa needs to get it back on the road and then sell off the spares I dont need and do it up in my spare time. Hopefully I'll be able to recover a large slice of the cost of buying it from this. What I am in two minds about is whether to keep the 125 engine or replace the 90 engine for originality purposes. I think that some of the spares are Primmy as well, as I think there was originaly two scoots but the Primmy frame has gone some time ago. Quickly looking through this forum I've seen that Primmy hubs are better than V90 ones. Are there any other parts that are better from the Primmy if I dont decide to go for originality? I dont have much money so its going to have to be a fairly std restoration with a rattle can or powdercoat respray and no fancy kits either Also is there anything like Stickys Lambretta book for Vespas?

Welcome Snails! :-) Go for the largest engine... ;-) There are lots of books about Vespas, from Haynes manuals to "how to restore your Vespa". But frankly, u might as well just google around on the internet and read different forums. www.scooterhelp.com could also give you tips & hints helping your restauration. Good luck, keep us posted with updates & pictures! :-)

I am leaning towards using the 125 engine as I dont really like 3 gears and its hardly got the original paintwork has it! ;D How much does a v90 engine go for in both needing a rebuild and renovated condition? I'm wondering whether its worth my time and effort rebuilding it myself before selling it on. Its had the side off it and is full of bit of straw at the moment!

Here's a picture of it out of the car. I've started sifting through the bits in the boxes and I have a couple of questions. Whats this? is it just fit for the bin? the front spline looks damaged. some of the parts are going to be stored up in my loft for what might be a few years. Should i worry about surface rust and doing anything about it?

Thats the kickstart gear. Looks like a smallie kickstart gear, but can't say for certain without checking.

I seem to have a Primmy headset amongst the spare parts I have acquired and I have been mulling over whether to fit this when I start on this. I'm thinking that there will be more room inside the headstock for all them annoying cable and light fitting tasks and that it may provide a better main beam than the V90 headstock? Does the Primmy headstock fit the same set of forks? Will everyone pour scorn on me for doing this?
