PM me (Max ;D) if/when you want to get rid of spoiler and will sort something out. I'll meditate upon it. Not sure if I like it or not, yet...

Stupid little things like it being painted without being stripped. I'll not be overly critical as it does look a usable bike and an excellent basis. Glovebox lock painted over, mudguard painted in situ as the fork leg bolt has been shot over, forks and hubs etc painted in situ as the hub cap is painted over, ET3 pipe, that's most defineatly not an ETS one and no stripes. And an ETS needs those although Scooter Graphics do them. Yeah, all of the above. He did say he didn't want to remove the floor runners which is fair enough- they're never the same, are they? But the rest of it? I think I'd have prefered if as it was, but unfortunately I didn't get the option... I'd like to 'restore' it, but I tend to get bogged down pretty rapidly with cosmetic stuff (to say it's not my strong point is an understatement ), so I'll probably just sort it mechanically for now (which I am good at! ;D ).

Where does everybody get PK bits? I could do with some clear indicator lenses f'rinstance.
Bought some basic spares from Beedspeed today. I've been dealing with them for years on and off, with no problems...

The throttle stop on the pulley isn't contacting the casting in the headset- what's supposed to stop the inboard float of the throttle? Surely not the rubber grip. Has somebody wrongly fitted a PX one, and it's too long?

Well, anyway- doing the throttle cable etc showed up the usual cosmetic bodges by previous owners, although, judging by what I've seen in the past, I doubt if it's bad enough to even be called 'average' condition!
The plan unfolds roughly thus:
1) ride it around a bit. Establish that it's roughly straight.
2) sort the steering, brakes and suspension. I've been riding bike for the past 22 years- there's no way I'm putting up with that front drum for any length of time! What's the best way of fitting a disc front end? It seems SIP want 322 Euros for a disc kit...
3) buy my choice of exhaust and jet to suit. This will do for a bit until I have a roof on my garage again (it's due to come off in a month or so).
4) start building my spare engine with M1l or Parmakit. Hope I don't run out of money shortly after.
5) ride it regularly enough to get it running spot on. Annoy local GSXR tossers.
6) THEN and only then, tidy it up cosmetically, maybe with a differnent single-colour paint job.
;D

Looks like they have fella Take it apart and put another washer inbetween gear change and headset and that should do it..

The drum is actually pretty good if it's set up properly. Admittedly a disc will have a bit more power and less fade if you ride it hard.
Price wise I'd look at ET2 / 4 fork set ups to steal the disc unit etc from. I think me was looking at these a while back but I can't remember where the thread is.

I dont think anyone could really get the drum to fade on the road really? The disc may have a little more stopping power but you can lock up those drums if they are set up right as juan says. Re tube.. simply cut it back and re drill the clip hole. Just line up with the cable where it comes into headset, mark it and drill.

Re tube.. simply cut it back and re drill the clip hole. Just line up with the cable where it comes into headset, mark it and drill. I think the problem is that it doesn't seem to have the collar that stops it migrating in an inboard direction. I don't suppose anyone makes a replacement collar... Re the front brake- I'm sure they are powerful enough to stop the thing; it's the absolute non-existence of feel that makes it scary! Nothing, nothing, nothing, then full on. It takes a big pull to get the lever to move then there's virtually no resistance. I've spent ages in the past carefully setting them up with all brand new parts etc. The result- still shit. They were probably adequate for 1950s road conditions.

Just ridden it for the first time.
;D
Fine, seems to go really well. Takes about a minute to drop back to tickover when you close the throttle, but they all do that, don't they? L/W flywheel should help that. Slide is probably worn out as well.
Is there a cheap replacement carb that will bolt on in its place? I'm thinking as a temporary replacement to go with the new exhaust (when I get it, probably the HZ) but before the kit is fitted...
Seems nice to ride though, despite the HST keeping flying off & landing in me lap!

Slide is probably worn out as well. If the slide is worn, you can just replace it. No need to buy a new standard carb.
