There’s no point in adjusting the carb when you have a leaking seal.

Okay understood.
I guess it's time to drop the engine and check out this leak/seal isn't it. I fear this is beyond my technical abilities although I thought that pulling out and cleaning the carb and I did that so I'll do some digging and if it looks too complicated will try and source someone locally.

yep , does sound like its time for a thorough engine overhaul , the disappearing gear oil is worrying . theres roger at pro-design in littlehampton , me in brighton , steve butchered along the coast in eastbourne way .an mungo up by heathfield , there the only people i'd recommend , with also kevin at brighton-moto, but he's very busy so doesnt do many older scooters .H

thinking further on this , the lost? gear oil , if being drawn through the clutchside seal it would be very smoky . the usual oil loss points are a ill fitting clutch cover ,or worn o-ring on gear selector shaft . does it leave oil stains when parked on the floor .H
