I see you have replaced your float and valve needle. Was the problem also present with the old ones or were the parts faulty somehow? Just thinking if the new ones are someway slightly different than the original ones. Same problem with the old ones. New ones was an attempt to solve the issue. Going to fit yet another new fuel tap…

Today’s fuels break down quickly and coat passages. Check for plugged inlet screen, plugged inlet passages, plugged carb breather, plugged atomizers, etc…

Close to give up now…. 😝😝😝
There is plenty nice flow through the fuel line and through the banjo.
Brand new needle and floater in the carb.
Carb, jets and holes cleaned and all good.
But still fuel starvation.
When the scooter is fired up, it idles very nice. Runs very well through the gears.
BUT, when the carb bowl is empty, it dies.
BUT, when I pull the choke, it runs ok unless wot…
Any more suggestions/help is VERY appreciated!!

That really sounds like a twisted fuel pipe

That really sounds like a twisted fuel pipe Could have been. -but is not. Tried with both «normal» tube and reinforced tube. But what is the correct length of the fuel line? 😬 -I kept mine as short as possible without kinking it…

Did you check the float level?

Did you check the float level? Nope. How do you adjust the float level on a SHB? -to my knowledge there is now way to adjust it. And what height should it be?

At this stage i think you should ask someone local to you to check it out for you as you are obviously not seeing the problem

Yes, I know you told me in an earlier post. -thanks! And I'm used to adjust the float height on my Mikunis and Keihins. BUT, the float valve in my SHB is attached in the plastic on the float. -there is no metal part to bend to adjust the height of the valve. -that's why I asked how to adjust the height for the SHB...

What size is the idle jet? Can it be too small?
I'm not sure if these are the right words, but the idle jet "feeds" the rest of the carburetor. And you say the choke helps, so... Just a thought.

I’ve not sure you can adjust the float height on these types of carbs, but I would expect the float to rise no further than level in the bowl. If it goes higher then the needle is not closing early enough and if it’s lower than level then it’s closing off too early and you may empty the bowl. You could see if there’s an issue with the needle tip causing a fuel delivery issue

If you flip the carb upside down, does the float lay parallel to the float bowl gasket surface like this? Does the float move freely to this position when flipped over?

Breather? The float bowl has its own breather.
