Hello All. I am brand new to the forum and to vespas. I will be posting in the "Projects" thread soon (w/pics), but first I had a question:
I just picked up a 1969 50L that the PO had said ran when he brought it from Italy a few years ago, but it has been sitting for awhile. Today I gave it a thorough cleaning, changed the oil, spark plug and filled it with gas. I was pretty happy when after a few kicks, with the choke out, it began to idle. However, when I pressed the choke in it died. I kept trying this and it would idle fine with the choke out but sputter out when I pushed in the choke.
Any ideas as to what might be going on.
Thanks

Thanks. I'm going to pull it out today and give the carb a good cleaning - hopefully that does the trick. Cheers

That worked. Thanks. Now I have another issue. The clutch won't disengage when the clutch lever is pulled, so when I go between gears it jumps - not good especially when going from neutral to 1st. Any suggestions?

How much freeplay at the clutch lever?
What oil are you using in the gearbox?
