A year ago i traded a restored pk Xl for 2 pk50s and an xl. Sold the Xl, restored one of the pk's but the third frame was rotten.
floorboards and rear spring holder were rusted through.

So i burried in the shed for in between projects..
Last year the first vespacross was organised. it's 2 heats between the big bikes for shits and giggles. a buddy of mine needed parts so i gave/sold him the parts of the rotten pk.
Last july i decided to participate in this years race. So i set off to build a bike using the rotten frame.
i had previously cut out the rotten parts.

I started the build with getting the frame functional. first a sheet of 1mm cold rolled steel was used for a new floor. 6mm bar welded to the edges for strength and later welded in a new subframe. had to make the frame a bit lighter first to compensate for the weight of the 50mm by 3mm flat bar..

welded a cross bar. i know it's too low on the rear, will triangulate the crossbar if i can find the time.

i'm not too happy with my welds, the were all done with an old transformer stick welder. Struggled massively with the thin sheetmetal but as the saying goes: "a grinder and paint make me the welder i ain't."
i'm currently in the process of learning how to handle a tig torch so i hope to be able to clean these welds up in the future.
time to drybuild..

after paint, it's rougher in real life. didn't spend to much time prepping and sanding. sanding and painting was done in a day. had to rush between work and exams.

I had a bent pk 125 fork laying around, slapped on a disc kit and a shorter shocker.
After that it was time to sort out the engine.
setup:
Parmakit sp09 144cc
parmakit clutch
reed block of a husqvarna wr250 welded to the cases
BGM crank
Faio & DRT gears
parmakit clutch
dellorto vhsb 37 carb
MD racing et3 exhaust.
first run on the dyno

Mixture was running rich, had a dip in the graph at around the 7K-8K rpm range.

adjust the needle of the vhsb 37 carb, air screw set at 3 turns out.
second run:

after the adjustments it got up to 23hp at 11,55Nm, 12,5k rpm with knobbly tires but has a peaky powerband with this MD exhaust. so i've sourced a big bertha in the hope it spreads the powerband out a tad more to get me a bit more low down grunt so i can get through the sandy turns. the woman from the dyno said it has more to give but as the race is next saturday and i still have exams this week i don't think i will get to finetuning any more.
This is my first thread so i hope it all works out,
regards from Belgium,
Levi
