the full story , is a mates , sold to me for registration purposes an to be sold back . but at the same price he paid in 1985 ,£500 ,couldnt say no, ex race chassis .painted by a mate around 8 years ago an been waiting assembly since . in meantime engine an forks were rebuilt by taffspeed ian t frankland , probs in the last 3 or 4 if not last SS engine he built . i didnt dare touch a bolt on it ,an it started 3rd kick in the stand , rest of goodys were either original or piaggio spares or recambi ,so no fettling or thought required .its done now , an ready to be sold back for the princely sum of £500 +parts/bolts/etc used ,bout £600 . you dont get many ss90's all genuine for that nowadays ,an no i aint missed off a zero . its been a bit of a chore really , no problems to solve ,no fettling required ,no internet parts hunt or autojumble action . just slow tedious careful assembly on rainy days when outside plays not allowed .
i resorted to purist baiting on faceslapper for my jollies , 1st saying it was my burpday pressie , then telling how much i paid for it , refusing offers off ten times that amount as "it was already promised". then saying how much i was selling it for as "mates rates" , an how much he'd probs sell on for later after owning a bit .beating off the stampede with a shitty stick as price mentioned 6-7000 was what i'd get it at .the funs been endless , an the jealousy some showed revealing . well ive now owned? , built, an ridden a SS90 ,an nothings changed my feelings , still dont like em . can see why some love em , but not why they will pay the prices , just dont ring my bell i guess .
