So I have this PX chopper project and need to figure out the electrics. I have a set of drops for it to mount headlight and speedo onto so I have ordered bike switches for the lights. There are 2 switches, one with cutout, and on/off for the lights and one for the horn, indicators (not required and switch will be removed) and high/low beam. Now I don't want to fit the one for the on/off as I want to keep the bars as clean as possible and with the QA throttle already on there I think it will look crowded (also don't need the cut out). Can you run a bike with permanent lights or do they have to be able to be turned off? The scoot came with the main part of the wiring loom but nothing for under the horn cover, but as I am not using a Vespa headset or indicators then I am not too worried about this and hope I can use what I have and bin any wire that aren't required. I have original ignition switch (steering lock one). So what I need to know is what is the minimum I will need to run headlights/rear running light and stop light? Do I need a battery? Electrickery isn't my bag so hoping for some good advice from all you tech geniuses out there

When I built my PX Chop/cut-down, I used a loom from a PX, I had problems with it blowing rear light bulbs, so replaced the 5 point regulator with a 3 point item. (As I didn't require any wiring for the indicators) The ignition switch (generic motorcycle type) was relocated to a position near to where the helmet hook would have been, which works fine. It sounds like you will be ok with the loom you are planning to use, as long as you isolate the wire's that you don't need, I:e indicators. You won't need a battery as the lights and horn will run off the CDI pick up, like a dynamo! You can run hard wired lights, as on the modern auto's. Hope my limited knowledge helps. Mav
