Doing some 3 to 4 speed gear conversions, I know I have to change the 4 legged gear selector, I know there are differences, square edge/rounded edge, height differences (50.2 & 50.8). First engine is from a pk50n 3 speed, has square edge not rounded.
Second is a late v90, have also seen that layshaft has to be changed on these but pk ones dont?

you only need to change the layshaft to suit the backplate and hubs you are using, im sure a v90 layshaft is the same as a primmy one and 4 gears fit on no problem, the small door 50/90 is different as it only has a 2 legged selector which is not compatible for 4 gears, it may also be slighly shorter. use the round end selector with pk gears and the square with v range gears the 50.2 is for v ranges but you can use the 50.8 or 51 version on v range gears but you have to shorten the lugs on all 4 legs so not worth it really. beware of any ape boxes as the ratios are total shit
