Hi all. Really keen to hear some views on this tuning kit (SIP part 10404000) for an ET3 Primavera which I've just bought and looking to upgrade. A standard ET3 is a bit sporty already with the porting and cigar exhaust (goes as fast as my GS160 more or less) but I'm looking for a decent amount more speed while keeping reasonable reliability (yeah I know, not asking for much).
I'm in Christchurch New Zealand and there is no Vespa shop I can walk into and actually look at parts or have knowledgeable staff to chat to, so the all in one kit nature of this (barrel, carb, exhaust, clutch) appeals as I figure there has been some thought put into these all working pretty well together.
The big question is whether it's worth a big price tag in terms of improvement on an ET3. I haven't been able to find any reviews on it. Wadaya reckon?

Malossi kits are generally reliable and pretty robust, this kit you are looking at can be either direct intake to cylinder or normal rotary intake through the cases. If you go for direct intake then you will need a new crank, and tbh I would be considering that no matter to handle the extra power. Although plug and play, to get the best from it I would match the cases to the barrel, if you are putting in new crank then ideal time to do so as you will have to split the cases anyway. Looks good value for what you get.

Thanks Triffid that's really helpful. Wasn't wanting to push the increased hp too hard as I still want reliability and ridability so presume I can get a "tame" crank - any suggestions? And sorry for my ignorance what does "matching the cases to the barrel" mean?

A Mazzuchelli (Mazzy) crank should be OK and at reasonable price, or ask SIP to recommend one to suit the kit and tune you want to achieve. The kit is "plug and play" in that you can just bolt it on and away you go but the ports in the kit will be bigger than the original ports in the original cylinder and on the engine casings. Matching the ports in its simplest terms is marking the cases using the gasket supplied with the kit and taking out the metal in the cases so that it matches the ports on the kit. This will allow for better fuel flow and improve performance. You will need to ensure you keep things smooth and don't take out too much metal and go through the cases, but if you are not wanting to massively boost performance then this shouldn't be a problem. There are lots of threads on here in the projects section where you can see what others have done. If in doubt err on the side of caution to avoid mishaps.
