IMG-20170704-00055 by henri briggs, on Flickr right 2 little gizmo's , one on left is a inline voltage regulator ,9v in 5v out .right gizmo's a "hall-effect" transducer ,(basically a very small pick-up), add these to a 9volt battery/power source an a accurate digital voltmeter an you get a tool . question is what tool . (hint, its to do with flywheels sort of ,an can be done on a I-phone with a app) . H

I'm thinking along the lines of measuring the magnetic field created by the magnets in the flywheel

bugger , vinrouge nailed it . a gauss meter , you connect em up an measure voltage output .then place hall sensor nxt to magnet ,voltage will rise or fall depending on north/south pole . the value of difference an some maths gives you a gauss value . the prize is vinrouge you lucky beggar , you get to send me a flywheel to measure , an hopefully within a few weeks i'll have cobbled together a re-magnetising rig ,so as a bonus i'll re-magnetise it aswell . really thought this would run a bit longer an i'd have to give more hints ,forgot how many really clever buggers there is on here ,will try harder nxt time .H

Brilliant, that completes a hattrick of wins just recently, 2 sweepstakes at work, 4th in the National and second in the football.
But this ones the best, seriously if looking to test a flywheel I've a brand new from India, never used. IIRC its marked as PL170 be interested to see how it compares to others

beers are on vinrouge then , or is it "kidneys with flava beans an a chilled chablis " to "hannibals" recipe of course , not the hannibal who loves it when a plan comes together ,but the cannibal 1 . talking of plans , this gizmo is stage 1 ,nxt is to cannibalize a old stator base plate an make a re-magnetizer gizmo. have even considered finding crackered cases an making a test rig , fly side of case with half a crank in it with a big handle to spin it welded on or a electric motor .fit stator an fly ,connect to cdi or coil an arraign ht lead in a spark gap tester n crank away . hours of innocent fun . like the time i rebuilt a magneto an my brother didnt believe i could .gave him mag to hold an applied ht lead to his arm, gave it a spin an watched him breakdance round the garage .oh how we laughed ,well me an dad did ,brother was too busy going to change his pants .
