Whats the little box on the skyline?? Down here in Kent the skyline is full of them. When I moved from south London I found them amazing. They are watch towers or defensive positions along the river Medway Shaun. There are also hundreds of fire beacons still standing from hundreds of years ago.

a memorial to the bravery of the people who would have put thier lives on the line if all else failed Exactly that Steve. Literally the last line of defence. When I find an overgrown one along the river, me and my boy always consider how it may have been the last defence position after an invasion, and we are the first to see it for many years.

You can spend a whole day alone, but on most bends and high ground there is a pill box or a beacon. We are so lucky that we don't have to rely on them as our defence. Sitting inside them is eerie. But actually sitting on the flat roof makes you realise they were actually very clever. You can really see for miles, at ground level, at river lever and in the sky.

Good pic Shaun , have you got it running again , what was the problem ? Until you declare your success I'm not saying anything Kev. (No, it's not running and I am waiting for a few bob to come my way before I can afford to sort it out and work out what is wrong) So get on with it and let us know if yours is running first...

Who would have thought a little tongue in cheek remark from me would be so thought provoking, everydays a school day.
It was a very good pic, and the little history lesson made it even better :-)
Cheers Shaun, Shaun.
