I'm currently rebuilding my 90Racer.., 1971 with mostly original paint, so I just doing the electrics and mechanical stuff. -all bearings, wires and cables replaced.
Previous engine was the original one wit Polini130, reed, 19/19-carb, parma ignition and Polini snail pipe...
Now I've fitted a 50Special engine with Malossi136 direct intake fed by a PHBL25 and Zirri Silent exhaust. And PKXL2 12V ignition. Casings welded to suit the cylinder.
Going to be interesting to see if there'll be some increase in performance...
I've been riding it all summer, and I'm rather happy with the performance... -But I've had some zeisures, probably related to ignition not properly set up.
And in the end the engine was leaking oil almost everywhere, so it was time for a rebuild;
First time ever that I splitted smallframe casings, and there were some hickups, but I made it in the end...
One really happy surprise was that there was already installed a full circle crank, even though a 19mm
A rather bad surprise was the state of the Malossi136 kit. -rather badly scared, so that has to go...
The plan now is to rebuild the engine with all new bearings and gaskets, and some new rubber for the engine mounts... The setup is going to be; V50Special casings with welded ports for the cylinder (already in place) Quattrini M1 Cylinder kit (to be bought) Full circle crank (already in place) Parmakit ignition (already in place) Franz exhaust (already in place) Dellorto PHBH30 carb (already in place) PKXL2 Clutch (already in place) DRT with short 4th gear (to be ordered) DRT cush drive rebuild (to be ordered)
I think I'm in rather good shape for the rebuild, but any suggestions and comments are highly appreciated! (and of course if any has some good-stuff for sale as well)
I would consider upgrading the crank as you will be putting a bit more power through it. Though then of course you have to replace the ignition too so then gets rather expensive.
We don't own this planet, we are only borrowing it from our children. How would you like to give it back to them?

Yes, I know Triffid.
But as I'm trying to keep the cost as low as possible, I'll stick with the 19 crank as long as possible... -to avoid the cost of both new crank AND new ignition.
As the casings now are stripped, I'll start with changing the rubbermounts and do some dremeling to the casings (some of the welding aren't too nice...)

The M1 is rotary induction and if you use the full circle crank, is not going to work.
1980 - 50 special 136 Malossi.....new engine in the pipeline (could it be a falc?)
