Whilst looking for the wife's Christmas decorations I found some old pictures of a cutdown that started to build over 20 years ago that never got much further that what's in the pictures below. I'd seen the 'crucial brew' cutdown in scootering and really loved it so picked up a local 90 cheap and attacked it with the grinder. Even now I think it looks quite nice, even it its rough form. The engine in the pictures is the one I'm running now, the drops and Lammy disc brake got sold on long ago and I left the frame somewhere when I moved house and never went back to collect.
So it got me wondering, do we all have a trail of dreams and builds that never quite made it?
Here's another, a PK that I was going to put a P200 engine in. I remember selling the PK motor but no idea what happened to the frame. I didn't do the cutting on this one, the corners were missing when I got it. Thankfully I never did fit the engine.

Wanted to see If I could build something without over spending, Had plenty of enthusiam early on but then lack of frame numbers or a V5 plus red tape etc. basically stopped it ,recycled/re-used what I could, I think Wayne ended up with the frame.

That's an ETS frame George, I am crying when see this photo I can't understand why do people cut only the corners of the legshield, it looks awful. The SS-like shape or "spine-only" are much better in my opinion. I'm planning to do the first one to the molested XL2 frame which I got cheap this year. I hope my project won't end up in this thread

never been a fan of cutting the frame unless there is a mechanial reason such as making space for something to fit, like a carb or exhaust or damper etc etc rant rant rant

I agree with you Bart, that cutting of the ETS frame is in no way good, it was like that when I got it. I've got another photo that shows the reg number of it and I looked up its status and found it rather sad that it was a 1986 registered scooter that had not been on the road since 1988. Just 2 years of use! I picked it up in the 1990s and like I said I don't recall what happened to the frame but guess I sold it on as I no longer have the log book for it.
I couldn't cut one up these days for no good reason, they're so much more precious now, to me at least. The 90 above was a case of 'I know a bloke who's got on in is shed he never uses you could have it for a few quid', things we dream of now.

Yes, Beedspeed drops. Don't know what that tank was from, it was something picked up in a scrapyard.

Don't do it!!! Swap it for one already butchered. Unless it is rotten and wont matter what you cut off.
