Straightliners will not be running the Scooter Shootout in 2015, there are three reasons for this, one is the continued politics within the scooter scene and there is no way we want to continue to run the event with all the back biting from certain quarters still going on,
The second reason for not running the event is purely down to finances we have taken a loss for the last two years on this event and only made a small profit from the first two events we ran and without more support from all quarters of the scooter world it is just not possible to carry on
And thirdly we are going to implement a full or two piece leathers rule for 2015 this will have the effect of halving the entry at the shootout event as the twist and go boys would not be able to enter in there track suit bottoms and hoodys
We will still be running the X Race scooter Championship but this will be back to bracket class racing with brackets from 16.1 15.1 14.1 13.1 and a Top Scooter class
We are in talks with Frank from the Lambretta Street Racer site the only site that actively supports and helps Straightliners with scooter related events and some changes might be made to the above X Race class structure
Regards Trevor Duckworth (Straightliners)

The politics and backbiting?? from who?? An event taken away from us non back biting participants deserve a more indepth explanation as to whos ruined it for us dont you think Trevor as I dont get involved with any scooter bullshit politics The two main reasons are the cost of the event to stage Elvington is a prime site and it is costly to hire and when you put all the other bits on to make the event work without a good entry it just loses money, The second reason is the twist and go riders that do not and will not conform to the clothing regs they just want to run in jogging pants and hoodys we cannot let this happen again, so we would lose about 40% of the entry making the event just not viable to do without a major sponsor, The Bullshit in the Scooter World, just take a look round the web and you will see people trying to save this event or asking why like you have done I have had numerous calls messages and offers,,, but for one segment of the scooter seen, I will leave you to draw your own conclusions We always had good support from the smallframes at the shootout and if we can help with a Vespa championship within our X Race events just let me know we should have all the dates out within the next week or so,, we also have some two way top speed events in 2015 and these are open to all scooters Yours in Sport Trevor

Would it be an option to have a number of sets of leathers that people could use/hire for their run down the strip? Maybe a bit of crowd funding to buy 2 each of s/m/L/XL sets of leathers. If they do not have to be of a set standard then I am sure you can get some off of e-bay cheap enough. Sell the tickets and state no leathers no run but advertise the option of hiring them on the day an dsee what the response is. www.ebay.co.uk/itm/motorcycle-leathers-/201198066092?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Leathers_Suits&hash=item2ed856d9acCheap leathers on e-bay, who cares what they look like if they save yer ass on the day.

Actually, re crowd funding, even if I couldn't make it I would donate a fiver just to keep an event like this on the go, 200 folk donating a fiver means £1k towards the cost, worth considering.

I would too triffid, if it meant my gate entry went from 20 to 30 quid for the weekend event I'd pay it but many won't, well done Trev for the last 3 shootouts I've attended and sprinted at, I'm sure it was a hard decision to make and I'll continue in other events in the new year :-)
